Not according to the manual!

1. Pump the brake lever until it becomes hard, and apply the brake and hold it.
2. Quickly open and close the bleed valve while holding the brake applied.
3. Release the brake.

Repeat.

exBanditOwner - I've not seen you mention bleeding the top end. Apologies if you have. Top end first, then calipers (right then left).

followed manual. followed my heart. followed the bear. followed traffic at an increased distance today.

i have concluded, it's fine. i can lock the front wheel with two fingers so that'll do for me. i'm now blaming rubber hoses for the spongy feel. - i'm used to braided lines and the lever just stopping solid.

so you never had any air in there then?

on a side note what discs and pads did you go for , where did you get them from?

exBanditOwner

pumped 1.5 litres of fluid through and no air bubbles.

i went for EBC discs and pads. got them from Demon Tweaks which isn't too far from me. asked for a discont and got 10% knocked off too.

pads are sill wearing in but i need wheel bearings now!

the same thing happened to my bandit once. the lever wasn't 100% perfect but no amount of bleeding, pressure, vaccuum, reverse. auto, gravity got them any better, then one day as if by magic the lever was perfect. there probably IS air in there but it isn't coming out and the wheel locks long before the level comes close to the bar.

and that's good enough for me

Back bleeding is the only way. Get a big syringe and push the brake fluid back up from the caliper to the master cylinder.
