After the first attempt of a European adventure ending up in a farcical breakdown in Limoges, it looks like I have managed to get another pass from the boss, and am going to be heading down to Sorrento for another adventure mid May.
Any tips for "must do" roads and routes along the way much appreciated!

I would say theres too many to list.......Trip duration ?

Hi Ant, nothing fixed in stone, but probably 4 to 5 days to get there, 5 there, visiting capri, pompei and the like, then about same time to get back.

Check out my evolving Google map for Italy for some POIs, hostels and scenic passes:

Check out www.railsavers.com for a relatively quick, cheap and convenient way to get there.

I can't really advise on Italy, but Stevens given you some great pointers there.

Personally, I would take in a little Germany and Switzerland on the way down and defo come back along the coast taking in the Cote d'Azur then back home either through the centre of france or up the east side...you should just about make it in 15 days.

Sounds like a great trip........

Get the train to/from Alessandria: the travel time is less than 24hrs and then you can almost triple the time you have available to spend in Italy. Or just get the train one way and take a very leisurely ride back home taking in some of the those wonderful alpine passes.

Yeah thanks for the input Stephen, its certainly worth considering as that will make it a lot less rushed and give a lot  more play time. It'll make for more of a pleasure ride rather than putting pressure on munching the miles. Thanks for that.
