We met up with a guy from Derby on a Z750 who set off in 4" of snow!  Fair play to him  Good effort IMO

:agree:

Yes I did and everyday since as me and the wife have decided to call it a day. So New Year brings new adventures :)

Jim sorry to hear about you and the missus. I'm sure you will but keep a clear, focused mind while riding, don't want to hear any horror stories!

Stayed in with the family ... 5 of us ... Bacon sarnies and Champers for brekky, unwrapping pressies, out with the dawg for an hour to get an appetite for the traditional lunch ... sleep it off and find just enough space for home made mince pies before climbing up to bed ... didnt go anywhere near the garage !

Had the week off so have been busy working on both bikes.
Have finally fixed the 1400 clutch slip problem.
Have cleaned the brakes on both bikes.
Resprayed the mirror mounts on the 1000.
Finally got round to fitting the Hexacone zorst to the 1400. Sounds nice, but quieter than the 2Bros.
Never had time for a ride but since I normally ride every day it's been nice not to ride for a few days.
Now looking forwards to a week on Monday when I'm back in the office.
May go for a ride before then though,... weather permitting.

Boomer, what did you do to fix the slip issue?

Boomer

The slip started after one of the OEM friction plates disintegrated.
I replaced the friction plates but the clutch slipped at peak torque in higher gears.
So, I replaced the steel AND the friction plates.
Still slipped.
Rebuilt the slave cylinder and bled the clutch hydraulics.
Much better but still a little slippage.
Replaced 2 of the 2.6mm steel plates with 2.9mm steel plates and some new thrust springs.
That's cracked it. :D

Didn't realise that the clutch stack height was critical on these engines.  Good to know, though.

For the record the correct height is
Torque - Clutch Spring Bolts: 11 N·m (1.1 kgf·m, 97 in·lb)
•Measure the clutch plate assembly length [J].
Clutch Plate Assembly Length (Reference)
Standard: 54.2 mm (2.13 in.)

Yup, mine is currently at 54.35mm which puts the bite point right in the middle of the lever range.
I probably had some wear to the clutch basket and thrust plate when the clutch was slipping so the thicker plates are compensating for that.
OEM it had all 2.6mm plates apart from one 2.9mm.
Now has three 2.9mm and the rest 2.6mm.
Also be aware that clutch springs need to be the right length.
I bought some aftermarket ones and they are 5mm too short.
Sent them back and got an apology and the correct length springs.
New ones are 15% stiffer than OEM.

Back on topic.

When I was single I just treated it as a normal day, no xmas cards or decorations or tree put up, I planned two long walks of 5 -10 miles depending on the weather and I would pack a flask of soup and some bread, get out fairly early and go, empty roads and more importantly empty countryside to enjoy.

This year was difficult as my mum passed away on Mothers Day last year and we missed her so very much, fucking cancer  :2guns:

Also I don't understand the hullabaloo over new year celebrations  it's just another day to me but I understand a new year can be a new (fresh) start

virginiajim

Drinking? New year celebrations...

Sorry about your loss.  It's never easy.  I miss my Mom as well.
