Hi
just had Avon 3D Storm fitted front and back at local tyrefinder by a guy who rides a ZZR1400 he uses them and so do a lot of the ZZR boys apparently, what a difference, its like a different bike, steering a lot more responsive, and feels rock solid in corners so far.

Hi
Just thought I'd stick in a word for Bridgestone  BT023's, bought my bike with clapped out 021's on it and fitted the 023's about 1200 miles ago. Absolutely  brilliant, nice handling and no probs. (so far) on following ridges or 'white lining', OK in the wet, but then I am a wimp and always adjust my style down a bit in the wet!
Happy riding!

Hi I had on the BT023 on before  the Avons just give me a more predictable behaviour and very good grip :tank:

Hi No 73 would that tyre finder guy be an itallian named gentleman.if so i know him well.im in redruth.ive just got my 14 it still has origonal rubber,it makes the bike fall into corners and feel really heavy. cant wait to swap em for avons.
if i double what my speedo says im still as fast as i used to be.

Hi Yes its Carmelo, known him for thirty odd years, knows his trade and even made a few phone calls to various people and general opinion is the Avon is the way to go, I have done several trips in very heavy rain now and they are good in my humble opinion they are way ahead of BT023 when it comes to steering response and feedback

Hmm, unusual, 250 miles in and tyre is working nicely. Not riding any different but with the PR3 I had 2-3 mm of unused round the edge with the PR4GT there's about a 10mm. Must try harder!

That's exactly what I found; it's worth paying the little extra though for the GT compound, given that it's a really heavy bike. The handling is just so nice - For you guys still using the Bridgestones, BT21 or BT23, do yourselves a favour and move on up to this next level - twice the range, much more feel to the bike. BTW, I've also gone to a slightly different profile on the rear - I'm using the 190/55ZR17, rather than the standard 190/50ZR17. It gives me a little more safety margin on the edge (I've got a 5mm chicken strip now, from 3mm on the 190/50), and it seems to have also brought in the accuracy of the speedo a bit. 100km/h on the dial is 100kmh on the GPS, where previously there was about 2km/h difference.

just swapped a BT023 rear in for a T30.  the 023 was reasonably square when i had it, I got rid of all the chicken strips and triangled them.  They did like to spin up and step out a bit when pushed hard but the traction control is a nice safety net.

only done 7 wet miles on the T30 ( i have never ever had a new tyre put on in the dry! just my luck)

any one in striking distance of Wheelock in cheshire needs to use F&B tyres. phone Steve on 01270760795 works out of his garage at home and is amazing. ride in ride out top notch service.

T30 now has 0mm chicken strips and doesn't feel like i've reached the limit. only had the one spin up in the wet in 2nd. i'm happy with that.

certainly inspires confidence. some feathering starting of extreme lean angles but that shows me its gripping!

happy with this tyre.

now.... if only i can get a good screen....

I tried in my bike BT'021....BT'023....PR'3 ....and , for me , are not really good

Now i have Pirelli Angel GT (with specific letter "A" for the rear tyre, for heavy bike) and i'm very satisfied, excellent stability in blends

This is the second train of Pirelli Angel GT.......with the first i've done 12'000km(arround 7450 miles)

Try it guys ! :punk:

Had a light 15k service today (at 16k) - will wait for 24k before doing valve shims and plugs I think to give me time to save up :).
I got advisory's on front/rear tyres (and front pads but he had none in stock so will do myself)
I have booked my steed in on Friday at my favourite type place (Ride in Tyres in Reading) for front PR3 to be replaced - done 11655 on it to date so I think it has done really well. Rear has currently done 5841 and has loads of meat still on it so will ask what the tyre fitter says about it needing replacing.

Paddle faster, I think I hear banjo's...

Well Still running Avon 3D storms, 1500 miles across northern Spain through Pyrenees and had one slide when I hit loose gravel, tyres were excellent in rain or shine, and three thousand miles in they have a fair bit of tread left, and I am not the gentlest of riders lol

exBanditOwner

by way of update. Just swapped out my Rear T30 for another at 4700 miles.

Nearly ready for my Tyre change. Think I am going with Pirelli GTs (A).  A couple more weeks of miles left on the stock tyres. Any last minute advice on my choice and / or equivalents based on your experiences ?

PRD

Definitely Angels. Brilliant.
