Hi every body.im the proud owner of a 2012 ruby red 14 seems a bit rare as far as i can tell.had her  a week now and rode it home from bristol175 miles in 5 degrees on bodmin moor. and im.......... LOVIN IT.
i had a 2008 3 years ago and sold it for a pan st1300 then a gl1800 goldwing.i decided the 14 does it all well.the wing was great a t touring my zx9r is a sunday morning hoot. but the 14 does both. I nearly went r1200rt bmw so glad i didnt.nice to be back on the big kwak.
so thanks for allowing me on been lurking for a week thought it was best to show my face and say hello.
if i double what my speedo says im still as fast as i used to be.

Congratulations on buying the red GTR I was looking at potentially getting.  :mfr_lol:
Am I right in thinking it was the private sale one?

friar tuck

Hi Wolf, yes it was a private sale from a very nice chap in bristol.he was taking riding a break for a while,he owned the bike from 700 miles and only put it up to 3900 in a couple of years.whilst your here im interested in maybe getting the ecu reflash for improved torque, a stateside company has been able to increase low range torque by as much as 15-20ftlbs between 2500-5000 rpm, i wondered if anyone in the uk has had similar results as i don't fancy posting my ecu to the US.Bikes plenty fast enough after that but its fueling is a little amiss low down. cheers.

 :185: Friar,

If you fancy a ride up to Earl Shilton, Leicestershire you can get the ECU remapped at http://hilltopmotorcycles.co.uk

Give Geoff a call to book it in. He has done many of the GTR's on here.

friar tuck

Hi Debs
thanks for the tip.I will give him a call.probably wait till spring to get it done as its 580 round trip for me and i dont fancy that in rain and low temperatures.unless he can re flash it by sending the ecu in the post???
cheers

Welcome to the forum.  And welcome back to a GTR.

Just out of interest what sort of improvements does a remap with Hilltop make.  I guess the principle thing for me would be low down torque etc.  Does it have an impact on fuel economy and does it need to be declared to my insurer?  I live about half and hour away so would be interested in getting them to do it.

There is a chap near Bristol (sorry I can't remember his name offhand but if you are interested I could find it for you) a lot closer to you who does ECU re-flashes, he has done zzr's so must have the software for a GTR.

If you chose to visit Hilltop then a few on the zzr14 forum have visited and have been pleased with the work/improvements
