Hi Guys,
finally got my licence back from DVLA in time to attend the Light Front event in Belgium on Friday last. Great turn out with a great many riders from all over the UK in attendance (http://deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.english/videozone_ENG/141018_ploegsteert-lichtfront-light-front).

On the way back to my B&B after the event I noticed my rear light was out. On checking I noticed it was a fuse and so replaced.
Unfortunately on the way back to the tunnel on the return trip I noticed it was out again - so popped in another 10amp mini fuse.

I can't see/feel a bar wire any where that may be shorting and was looking for some advice in case any of you have had a similar issue and could point me in the right direction.

I have the Poppy launch at Guildford cathedral to attend this Friday evening so will need my rear light for that :)

Thanks in advance....

Looks like you had a great time Pete.

I have no idea about the light.

Thanks Deb's brilliant time and the weather was outstanding for October - 3 days in T shirts surprised me :)

Got my last visit to Bournemouth Uni on Wednesday so will give you a text if I finish at a reasonable time to pop over and say hello :)

I wont be here on Wednesday. I'm flying from Heathrow at 8am to Bulgaria for 3 days. :)

Why will it be the last time? wont you be coming down this way again?

Having the rear light blow a fuse is abnormal.  Just don't see that one.  Have you piggy backed any additional load onto that circuit other than what's already there?

Enjoy Bulgaria and give my best to the rest of the Wombles - will be in Bournemouth again and will try and catch up with you then, it's just that my contract at the uni finishes on the 31st :)

Hi Jim, was fine before laying the bike up in May - I do have the red bullet viz rear/break lights fitted so they were the first point of checking the solder joints appear good and have reinsulated with hear shrink. I don't have the tool box under the seat any longer and thought perhaps fuse box 3 (where the 10amp fuse for tail is) may be rattling/shaking perhaps so have tied this against the frame.

Will have another run on the bike and see what occurs.... Thanks

So the OEM LED rear lights have been replaced or are they used in conjunction with the red bullet lights?

Hi Jim,
OEM lights in use - bullet lights in addition.
Will be out on it later for a client visit so will report back on findings after now that I have put fuse box 3 back on its mount point and heat shrunk the joints for the bullet viz additions - will remove these if it fails later and then retest.

That circuit can be a bit touchy we've found.  I would definitely disconnect the bullet lights and see what happens if you don't find anything obvious beforehand.

Its one of 3 things either

the total load is now exceeding your original fuse rating ( 120 watts on a 10amp fuse )

or you have a shorts or water ingress on your new wiring or

its going to something to do with the rear LED cluster, they are not wired in as traditional candescant bulbs, the earth wire is not the switch, from memory the brake light runs at 9v, the earth is on a separate feed.... yaddayadda

id disconnect until your suss it out
