Anyone done this on here, want to share the experience or offer advice?I don't want to spend money on some fancy vaccum gizmo

Ive done brakes before but never clutch , I believe there are 2 bleed points

Boomer

Yup, and will be doing it again this weekend as the seals in my clutch slave cylinder are leaking.
Rule #1 Don't let the reservoir run low.
Rule #2 It's easier if you have friend do the lever and you do the bleed nipple.
Rule #3 Take your time. It's not a quick job.

whats the procedure , isn't there 2 bleed points?

Boomer

Yup, bleed through until you get clear fluid and no air coming from the slave cylinder bleed nipple, then bleed the master cylinder nipple.

I could be wrong and will take correction :smartass: .....................but I think its attached to the end of the clutch lever and has the fluid reservoir on top of it  :mfr_lol:

Ok, I replaced the clutch slave seal and spring and now have a clutch again. Have ordered a master cylinder rebuild kit as well, just in case. Bleeding the clutch line was a real beyotch. In the end i made a "push" system with a big syringe and pushed the fluid up from the slave bleed nipple to the master bleed nipple. That got most of the air out, finally.

Its that much of a pain then George?

Boomer

Yes, but remember I had drained the system completely to fit new slave cylinder seals. If yer just replacing the fluid you can just keep adding fresh fluid until it comes through clean. While I was at it I also cleaned out the master cylinder and the reservoir.

I found an easier way.

And how much did that privilege cost you?

There are some things you can't put a price on...like your time involved away from family or friends..or dealing with the inevitable 'Doh' moments, losing parts (MC that is) and all....  I enjoy working on things I know I can do, not so much on certain other things like valve adjust checks, throttle body syncs, or the clutch hydraulic system.
