Well..... Here we go again. Been flown out to Limoges by the RAC, having the fuel pump replaced as we speak. Hopefully I'll get the bugger back in next few hours and begin the ride back home! ..... Fingers crossed!

shaggs147

Well this ain't looking good, now they're checking the loom. I don't think they know what they're doing. Everything takes an age here, why would anyone want a 2 hour lunch break, it just drags the day out...... In rant mode now lol

coman37

I would be seriously pissed off now, I wouldn't expect to make the journey until it was confirmed running, how long do they expect you to sit around waiting for it to be fixed?( if that's even possible)

Good luck Coman
...

shaggs147

Cheers Coman. Well I think I'll give them till lunch time tomorrow then I'll be having words with the RAC about bringing it home. I'm glad I was here though while the pump was being fitted, as they quoted 750 euros to fit a new one, and no doubt it would've been fitted if I wasn't here to witness the wiring fault. I think somebody must've got a code up saying fuel pump and assumed it was faulty without testing it. It really feels like I'm being squeezed by the balls and there's bugger all I can do about it.

On the plus side. I've had a very nice meal this evening, washed down with a few ciders lol

If it's any help(and I know it's not) I've been waiting 4 days for a chain and sprocket set for my Tiger 955i.

Took it in to Treeumph Malaga (they can't say Triumph) at 1pm on the previous Monday, explained what I needed, was told it would be in for Thursday( maybe Wednesday) gave them my email details and phone number, paid a cash deposit, sorted

I took a business card, so when I got to my apartment I emailed them confirming our agreement including a request that they call or email when parts arrive.

I'll give you the short version, but I called them several times, they didn't call me!!

It's very hard to be sarcastic etc when the language is different(to be fair his English was way better than my Spanglish) but I think he realises I'm pissed off.

Finally get my first call at 7.10pm on Friday to say come on in, I'm 25 miles away and they shut at 8pm, it ain't gonna happen, I say I'll come in tomorrow !  They don't work Saturdays (serenity now!!!)

So I goes in early on Monday, gives them the keys, says how long, 1 hour he says.

I come back in 1 hour and sit in the wait area as I can see it's not finished. Guy comes over,

"Colleeeen, Colleeen, ve hav a problem".

Xxxcking wrong rear sprocket !!!   I am so glad that they haven't split the chain yet

So I tells them to put it all back together, when will the correct sprocket arrive?

Maybe tomorrow(Tuesday)he tells me, he'll call ( I fly home on Thursday).

Did I get my call? Did I xxxx.  Mañana, mañana

Hopefully I'll get it done next time I'm over

So I feel for you brother, trying to get stuff done with Johnny Foreigner is a bloody nightmare

Ps weathers been nice

What a load of arsing about. Useless garage never got to the bottom of the fault, so I've had to return to the UK via hire car and as a foot passenger on the ferry. Well there's 3 days holiday completely wasted.  :hammer:

Our Tiger broke down a few years ago in Spain. The RAC arranged for it to be picked up and their agent wouldn't let us leave until they'd had confirmation from the RAC they would be paid; that took hours and hours during which we sat on uncomfortable chairs in an old warehouse with no access to food or drink. Eventually I just told them we were leaving.

We picked up a hire car the RAC arranged and continued our tour. They then told us the bike had been moved to a Triumph dealer who wouldn't touch the bike unless I went there and signed a disclaimer. After a detour of a couple of hundred miles or so we arrived at the dealers to find he'd told the RAC he didn't work on Tigers and it was still where we'd last left it. I wasn't best pleased and less so when they eventually recovered the bike and it had been damaged.

Kevin & Lyn, excellent write up, I still don't know how you can complete so many miles in such a short time frame.  :sweatdrop:

Thank you but I assume that was for this post rather than my short tale of the RAC screwing up just above?

Kevin, naturally you are correct. I've now commented on the correct post just so that there's no confusion.  :mfr_lol:

To be fair, I blew my GTR1000 gearbox to pieces near Lyon and the RAC were extremely helpful.
Was picked up within 2hrs and 2hrs later was in a rental VW Polo (have you met me? It was a tight squeeze :D).
The bike arrived back in the UK 3 weeks later.
Mostly the RAC are very good, but some of the local dealers they work with are crap.

A friend had a K100RT and it died in France. RAC got him a rental car and took the bike to a BMW dealer and they diagnosed a bad fuel pump.
5 days to get a pump in, cost of €600, and it didn't fix the problem.
Eventually they shipped the bike home.
We took it apart and found that one of the connectors on the wiring loom for the fuel pump was badly corroded.
Cleaned it and smeared on some dielectric grease and it worked perfectly.
I'm willing to bet the dealer never even tested the old fuel pump off the bike.

Yes I totally agree boomer. To be fair to the RAC on the whole were great, and even paid for flights and hire cars etc. The only thing I was annoyed about was that initially they would not send the bike back and I had to return to France to collect the bike after it was supposed to have been repaired. The RAC have now agreed to ship the bike back. The (supposed to be) kwak dealer in Limoges was nothing more than a complete joke and there is no way that they ever tested the pump or the supply wiring to it. I dread to think what further damage they may or may not have done trying to make a temporary repair. I  would've had more chance of it being repaired if I wheeled it into the restaurant down the road as I think they spent more time in there. They didn't even have the right leads to fit the diagnostic plug. I think they were more into off road stuff, but to me they certainly didn't deserve the title as an official dealer.

Robbing French  :asshole: :censored: :shit: Had to pay the cheeky  :asshole: 455 euros before I could get the bike released for shipment. Apparently there's 88 euros storage costs and just under 300 euros to fit a fuel pump (supplied by me) and diagnosed by them, that wasn't needed plus taxes.
I can't wait to get the bike back to see what's actually wrong with it. I've already been onto Kawasaki UK about it all and they've given me some info on how to complain to Kawasaki customer services in France. Should've let Germany keep the  :shit: hole, at least there'd have been a chance of getting something done then. They might as well have put a tyre on the bike to see if it cured the FI fault! :censored: :censored: :censored:

Erm sorry, I sound a bit miffed
