How much did you put on...a whole tube?  There's enough moly there to last a 1000 years.  :mfr_lol:

SSSsssssssh.............Between you and me Jim...............Steve likes a bit of lubricant now and then when the mood takes him  :whistling:................. :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Boomer

Disassembled the shaft and it's fine. Removed the front bevel box and found that the bearing was badly worn. Enough so that the cehtre race can move 3mm laterally. So, new bearing and nut on order tomorrow and reassemble next weekend. Also found a small coolant leak where one of the hoses fits onto the water pump. Still, could have been worse and at least the parts shouldn't be too expensive.

 3mm is not a good sign

Which bike Boomer ?

The 1400. Shaft was making a clunking noise when I rotated the back wheel. Both bevel gears seem undamaged and all seems ok apart from the bearing.

In the videos I have by your friend over the pond, Fred, he states that the paste should be applied in such a manner that it fills the gaps between the sprockets, that's what I've done.
