At the Weissepitze we drove to the glacier and, above 2,000 metres it was snowing. Some bikes were out, but most looked as though they wished that they weren't.

Great hotel. We were there in late June for a week and had a loan bike for 4 days but only used it for 2 due to torrential rain. We had snow on the day we left

Very many apologies, on my last post I included Deb's name instead of "100 miles away" as should have been the case.

In respect of the BMW Test Fleet at the Weissespitze Hotel, whilst we were there (five nights) only one bike went out, that being the R - Nine T. This was taken by a local rider (from nearby Landeck) who wanted to try one before buying. At present, he rides a Ducati Monster.

On the Saturday, I counted 28 bikes in the hotel garage, but did notice that most of them were trailered in and unloaded for rides around the mountains before being trailered home.

Overall the weather was not too bad, however there were some poor days when travelling between hotels and on more than one of these the news warned of travel disruption due to heavy rain. At one time, the car aquaplaned briefly on an autoroute.

I stayed at Charlies Weisespitze hotel back in 2009. The 'trailering'of bikes was a popular passtime even back then.

The area is very mountainous (not surprisingly,  that part of the world is) consequently it is subject to wet weather, we were there in mid June and the Stelvio was closed due to snow drifts, so we rode the Kaunertal instead, it was also under 4 foot snow drifts.

Its all part of the experience.  if your on yer bike you just get on with it.

We also experienced horrific gales and torrential downpouring rain whilst returning from the N.W 200 a couple of years ago, even the ferry captain refused to take motorcycles as so many had fallen over on the previous crossing, it was tough but we got home after amost 20 hours....all part of the joys of biking.
