Ok, not really mine. Dealership gave me the SX1000 whilst the GTR is in for warranty work.

Fantastic bike. I can see having one just for the summer

apart fro the sx 1000 being fun ,how do you rate it as a relacement for the gtr or the zzr , obviously a lighter bike and they dont lack power.and performance  they  also come with a descent set of panniers .was it the abs model??

Zebedee

I have had the zzr also but will say I prefer the GTR as I came back to it so that must count for something

I am almost 95% sure i will be getting one, i just need angie to test the pillion seat out and if she likes it my immaculate 12 reg GTR with extended warranty and lots of extras will go. That is also the colour i want, with ABS touring version. I was going to look round this weekend but the weather is crap. Rob Speed at Grimsby are doing a good deal at the moment.

I know that the SX is indeed a great bike, my only concern would be the pillion passengers comfort, and as we all know if your passenger is happy it generally makes the rider happy too. There will be nothing wrong with the bike, it uses a well proven engine/frame, and of course it's a Kawasaki so it will be bomb proof. And in your case it will feel like a light weight compared to the GTR.

Got a great deal and i am just waiting for the dealer to locate the colour i want, although i am told the grey is just about extinct, the black is very rare, but plenty of green ones not too keen on the green though. 100 miles matey - when you sit down and contemplate the weight GTR 305KG - SX 230KG = 75KG, FFS thats nearly 12 STONE!!!!!!. We are at Oulton Park this weekend and when we return tuesday, booked a test ride and if all goes well bye bye GTR. sorry to say the deal included all the goodies on the GTR too, I was going to sell them on here some nice kit.

The SX was a delight to ride and although I didn't hammer it, it was very, very fast off the mark.

Unfortunately not suited to being a day in day out tourer, but its a bike for a different purpose.

Had a bit of good fortune today, the dealer called and told me they have located a bike in the Grey colour, i have paid my small holding deposit, but unfortunately i have had to agree to a small premium to get this colour but in my opinion well worth it. I now have my test ride tomorrow morning ( i will have to set off for oulton park a little later ). If all goes well i should have it for next weekend.

Well done Zed, you are preaching to the already converted regarding the weight of bikes, as we get older, it becomes a BIG issue. I hope you enjoy the new bike, as I'm sure you will. Please call back with your thought on the new un.  Enjoy.

The test ride was good, great bike felt like a 250 compared to the GTR, ( makes the monster feel like  125 ) handled well, good brakes, awesome engine plenty of poke, down side was the panniers are quite small, just enough for a FF Helmet but thats all. Chain drive, and i believe you can get a top box rack but it hangs quite a bit beyond the rear of the bike and the weight limit is 5kg. However i can live with these issues as the weight difference far out weighs them. All in all as much as i will miss the GTR i look forward to the SX. I hope to have it this weekend, i'll keep you posted on progress.
