Hi,
glad to join you all.Bought a 2009 GTR yesterday in Blue, rode 150 miles back and really enjoyed it.Have had a variety of bikes starting with a BSA bantam in my younger days,BSA Lightening,Norton Dominator,Suzuki T200, Honda VFR 750, Honda CB750, Honda Blackbird, Yamaha FJR1300, Honda Pan ST1300, Harley Road King, Harley Ultra Glide 1600 then decided after two years of Harley's, a great scene but I missed a bit of "umph". So Harley gone bought a BMW R1200RT. Could not get on with this, better half did not like being on the back, looked at BMW 1300 GT but it does not have good looks, then I saw a GTR, well looks are great, write ups good, so bought one.
We live in central Scotland and are planning trips North very soon.
Hope I have not bored you all.

cheers,
Ed

Hi Ed and welcome

Trust me, you got the best bike. The BMW 1300GT didn't do anything for me, and although I did like the Yamaha something just pulled me to the GTR. Its a great choice you've made and you'll get plenty of oomph, trust me

Welcome Ed,
Great choice...properly eclectic taste in bikes over the years. GTR is an awesome bike..have fun...much more bite than the Harley or The RT

;D
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Rusty

Welcome Ed ... glad to hear you are getting on with the Gtr .... when you say you are going North ... is that North into The Highlands or South into the North ...? if you get me ! I'm from the South ( proper South that is )  ;D ;D

Cartman

Welcome, nice list of prior bikes! I had a R1200GSA and a ZZR1200, wanted the comfort of one and the oomph of the other, GTR fits the bill for me......and i'm sure it will for you ;D
Once you realise we are all mad, life starts to make sense

I was North of Scotland and travelled to where I live in Central Scotland, not (proper South!!!!!!) You need to experience the lovely roads up here and up North.

Ed, hello and welcome. I WILL be experiencing the lovely roads up in Scotland next Friday to Monday.  ;D

Don't worry Ed, ALL of Scotland is on my list of places " to do " ... I have been up a few times but always through work and have always thought " God that would be nice on a bike " etc etc .... Did the Ben Nevis bit about 30 years ago on an adventure week at school, but no views from the top as it was of course ... snowing ! A good friend of mine went to the Ben Damph estate 2 years ago ( check it out on Google ) ... bikes, fishing, shooting, walking ... you could see the local village across the lake, but it was a 6 mile trek to get there ... he said, and the pictures showed it to be just idillic  ;D
