We shall be embarking on our 'Tour de France' early in the morning and I thought I would just put some new tyres on.
Ordered the PR4s to try out and they arrived today.
Took the wheels out and took them down to a large local tyre place to fit ( only a tenner a wheel )
Got them fitted by an employee that specifically does motorcycle tyres,  and fought my way back home through the traffic after they were done.
ONLY to find the :censored: put the front on the wrong way !!!  :censored: :censored: :censored: :surrender:
Back again to change round....grief......
Just check if ever have them done out of sight !!

That's all you need the day before you go away, thankfully you realised in time, how did you realise out of interest, was it due to the handling?

viper

this has happened to me , as I take the wheel only to them I remind them which side of the wheel is the right/left side , a polite way of saying don't fuck up!!

on a positive note at least they never nuked your TPS which has also happened to me !!

I always double check work carried out by other people Steve, just for my own piece of mind,..... same as i do with my own work, it comes  natural when working for yourself........
Trouble is I meant to do it at the fitting shop but got chatting to the Manager and completely forgot, assuming everything was right.

Remembered when I got home and just couldn't believe my eyes,,,,, I was literally wishing the arrows would change direction  :mfr_lol:

I phoned up straight away and the manager was very apologetic, I asked the fitter when I took them back what he had learned from this  :censored: up ........ :hammer: :hammer: nothing !!!!

I said " try double checking your work and if unsure, ASK which way the wheel goes on, one touch of the front brake in the wet and who knows where we would have ended up, never mind the tread collapsing over time !!! "

I think the message got through !  :surrender:

Oh yes, I took the wheels and tyres to them to fit, so wasn't on the bike...the tyres came from Tyre leader aswell as my tyre guy is on holiday and they were £50 cheaper than anywhere else......took a bit of a risk but arrived on time.....

There's a direction indicator on the wheel itself. How hard can it be?

TBH Ant, I would have suggested that new tyres should be fitted in time for scrubbing in ~ and some time before setting off  "loaded to the hilt" with brand new rubber ~ take care fella and enjoy

And Asif, isn't the Tyre direction fitment on the tyre itself not on the "wheel"  :innocent:

On the wheel there's a rotation arrow and one on the tyre itself.

My fault entirely OC.  Regular tyre guy went on holiday for 2 weeks and i was struggling to get some fitted for a reasonable price.......As much as £356 pair  :surrender: screw that.

Anyway, clocked up 800 miles so far, off to Millau tomorrow, BUT, have developed a vibration when I hit three figure speed....balancing me thinks....so the Mrs happy that I'm now driving within the speed limits

Won't the Mrs be happier with the vibration? lol

She would, but only comes through the bars and front end......    pissed down today for 5 hours of riding so was trying out the PR4s on the D roads  :sweatdrop:

Nice to hear that you are enjoying your trip, keep an eye on the vibration, maybe 20 minutes spent at a local tyre depot will sort the un-balanced issue
