I came across this video today, has to be seen to be believed just what this guy carries and what you can get in the panniers.

The bare essentials for a short trip!!

Gresty

I can't show that to Mrs G.  She's already complaining because she doesn't think she will be able to take her GHD hairstraightners to the South of France in July. I've told her she's got one pannier.

LOL - That'll change!  You may well end up with a shared tankbag pocket - one of the small ones on the side - for your tooth brush(folding style one!!)

I actually shifted house from Germany to the UK and back on a BMW R100R.
Well, I didn't have any furniture but I would say I had even more stuff on the bike than that guy.
Getting on and off was a bit of a struggle, though.javascript:void(0);

This is the list our gang follow when we tour

Remember!

Waterproofs – if you take 'em you won't need 'em.  If you don't.........................
Sun bloc/hat – Well that's what mum said!
Money – Accommodation - you will need about 200 Euro's each for the digs not yet covered.  I would suggest about 40-50 Euros a day spending money, plus petrol money – just to be on the safe side.
   Driving Licence
   Insurance Certificate
   V5
   European Recovery Insurance Details
   Medication (Hay Fever/Resolve/etc.)
   Lock/Security
   Spare Bulbs
   First Aid Kit
   Camera
   Map/Sat-Nav
   Mobile Phone

i have done a fair bit of touring 4 x4s and on the bike and just because you can carry it all is not a reason to do so that muppet could have easily left half that crap at home and saved himself loads of grief packing it away not to mention fuel and wear and tear
Here for a good time, not along time

In my youth, I went to St Tropez on my trusty Honda CX500, (dont laugh) ;D with a tent and a spare pair of jeans & t-shirt.  It can be done.

I also carry essential tools and a full 5l petrol canister - nothing worse than running out of gas in the middle of nowhere, on a Sunday in Scotland or Holland for that matter.

You'll be amazed what you can carry in and on a bike.

Hi Vis vest is the law to carry one with you (in most european countries)....you only have to wear one if bike breaks down at side of road, or attending to accident ;D
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?
