Do any of you use the power socket on the right of the dash to run your SatNag?

If so, what plug did you purchase to wire to the lead from the GPS unit? Is there anything that fits snugly enough to not be concerned about rain, or should I just remove it and replace with a marine/motorcycle combination?

I want to be able to remove my unit easily from the bike when I stop. The RAM ball allows this, just need to solve the wiring ... mine is an old Garmin StreetPilot unit that doesn't have a powered cradle, just a flying lead.

I think there is a thread on this exact subject, however if you have the flying lead and it is 12v then you will need to buy a generic cig lighter plug off ebay and solder it to the lead. You could buy a two way plug connector and wire it to the cig lighter wires, this way you get waterproof and can still unplug

ive got the 2 way plug for my gopro charger wire which discreetly comes from under the mirror mount through a grommet, its very robust

This is what I fitted in the blank mounting hole on the LHS (by the accessories point).
I know Deb's also did the same on her old baby.....

I run the sat nav off the front brake light switch. And the heated grips. Just put a piggyback blade connector on the positive feed and away you go.  Been doing this for years and mimimises the wiring. Works great

Get the Garmin Nuvi 760/765/775 series as they have a qd powered cradle mount, no faffing round trying to plug the usb in.

Not waterproof but 1/4 of the price of a Zumo,

WONT bluetooth to my new Vcan helmet but i can use the FM facility to transmit the voice guidance

when I first got the GTR I ran the satnav from the heated grips but as that circuit cuts when the bike is ticking over my satnav kept turning off, I then run it from the front sidelights feed

I also have them on new baby.. I have taken the socket off and replaced it with the USB sockets.. Also added the same on the left.. So I now have 4 x USB charging points..

I'm planning on installing one inside the left hand compartment on the 2010+ model. Anyone done this mod already?

kind of done this, ive fitted a usb inline charger rather than a socket type, wired it into the power from the spare acc wires inside the black boot . I haven't run the wires and plug into the glove box but that could easily be done.
my wires hang out from under the mirrior mount with a waterproof connector for my gopro.

you could use one like this but with a female plug

Interesting replies folks.

So no waterproof plug to go in the existing socket? Seems mad to supply a socket and there be no plugs to use.

Looks like I'll replace it with a marine or Powerlet version.

I spent yesterday afternoon fitting a power supply   Battery - to under seat (its a pain, choke the tank up an inch and you can get the wires through without removing tank) took left hand side panel off and  ran the cable up the side of the tank in the seam, up under cowl on top of tank and up left handlebar to my RAM Mount. looks neat and tidy.

PS Remove Battery, and there is a hole at top of left hand side of compartment that you can get the wires through.

Found that out yesterday when fitting my keis wiring loom lol
