I had the standard 47 Litre K top box that came with the bike and the standard plate ... that also came with the bike ... France twice and Scotland no problems at all .. But mine would appear to be in a minority ! I only ever rode with those side box things if I had to, and found the " top box only " option the best.

Same here, no issues. I only have about 10K miles on the bike but so far it's been great.
