Back safe and sound. GTR brilliant in all departments, from very fast motorway to mountain bendy bits, never missed a beat over 3,000 miles. 'Fuel Range' guage is as daft as a brush! Plenty of fuel in France on Sundays and Bank Hols, credit card only, so you wont be stranded.

Absolutely stunning pics. I'd of asked that guy in the first pic to move away though  ;D

No, in all seriousness, they are brilliant photos and I am truely envious. Some of the photos look like promotional shots for the GTR you might see in a bike mag. I hope you are going to post a few more of your photos.

Rusty

Ditto Mr Wolf ... great pictures ... looks like you had a cracking time.

Very envious never been to Europe on a bike but it is on my to do list

lamin

Fred, you've never been to Europe before you say, you own a 1400 GTR, question is why not? The tunnel takes 20 mins ish, passport in your back pocket, and all of a sudden the world is your lobster. Traffic free, speed camera free, fantastic roads, glorious weather, wots not to like? It really is the most fantastic experience for a biker, up there with s*x and stuff, try Normandy if you don't want to venture to far, it'll blow your mind, have a peak at the landing beaches, fishing villages, Bayeux Taperstry, you know about that, Le Mont- St-Michel, brill, Fred and all bikey peeps, stop making daft excuses, get on your bikes and GO. This aint no dress rehersal. xx

Nice pics. We are off to France tommorrow, Riding down to Ashford for an overnight stop, tunnel to calais then down to Angers where we intend to see as much of teh loire valley as we can in a week. You never know, if the wife likes it we could do it again soon. Can't wait, first long run on the GTR.

Yeah right!
Just because you don't see any speed camera signs doesn't mean there aren't any!
In some countries they actually hide them.
Swiss police are known to hide in the woods with radar guns and radio their mates waiting in the next village.
And especially on Dutch and German motorways you can get stuck in trafic jams for hours.
Filter at your own peril because that is illegal there too.
And the fines are hefty!!!
But I agree, the weather tends to be a lot better  ;D
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

In France they hide speed cameras in Wheelie bins and just leave them at the side of the road.........if you see a bin with a shaded window on one side...then they are watching!!  :-\
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

lamin

To be perfectly honest, i was 'Flashed' more than a couple of times whilst making progress on some of the quicker roads in France, now i'm not to sure if this counts against my licence over here in Blighty, if it does i'm allready dead in the water. If not..... i live to ride another day xx

fred24

The dutch are just as sneaky with their speed cameras as I was flashed in Holland a couple of years ago by a tiny camera on a tripod in amongst some road signs at the side of a major road and a fixed penalty notice duly arrived on my door mat in the UK so its possible the french will do the same.

Was working in Holland at the time and as it was only 50euros or so played it safe and just sent of a cheque and never heard anymore about it
