Over the years I've managed to build up quite a bit of tools. I'd like to have some way to organise them all, rather than rummaging everywhere.

Anyone recommend an inventory type app that they use? Just need someway of cataloging their precise location with a search facility. If there isn't an app, I might log it in a spreadsheet with a view to writing a custom app and then importing in the data.

But I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if there is an app out there. I know some of you have massive workshops, and I assume you have an organised your tools accordingly.

Who's in charge of your man cave? Do you have to hide them all away out of sight of the Missus?

Very masculine, an app for your tool locations????

I remember where all my tools are and I have a lot. It's quite easy if you buy a decent tool box to start of with... a proper tool cabinet and chest hold a lot of tools. a couple of drawers for the "special tools:  and your mostly set.

An app for tools....  :mfr_lol: your cracking me up man...

Boomer

Just do a search in your App Store for "Home Inventory".
Plenty of them out there for iOS and Android.

Asif, I'm worried about you

Asif if you have a couple of grand spare I can probably get you a rather fetching Snap On tool chest.

The Brother in Law uses them a lot and has an account with them, for the man who has a Rukka Armas outfit, it would have to be Snap On.

Alternatively Wickes do some plastic tool boxes.

O.C.

Asif are you going through the change or summat  :mfr_lol:

I have bloody loads of tools and they are all sorted correctly in my double deck tool trolley, I know where they are when I want them, and believe me there is a lot of them
BE KIND...

One of my favorite films is Ip Man, now I've finally meet App Man.

How hard can it be... garden tools in the shed, the good important mechanic tools in the garage, a house toolkit of the crappy kind kept in the cellar, if you've got them in your office and god knows where else then it's about time you started tidying up after yourself and stopped leaving them at your arse...

You start to use apps for something like this then your mind gets lazy and doesn't have to remember where things are, your app goes down and your Donald Ducked........get off your gadgets and get your hands dirty organizing them, what would a real man like Tim Allen think? Arghh Arghh Arghhh...

 :mfr_lol:

Trust me, my mind isn't lazy. Gets plenty of exercise at work!

I view it as a cost saving. Last time I couldn't find something I ended up buying it again - only to find it later. Maybe I should tag em with RFID so I can locate them even easier ;)

But then again, I'm the kind of person that logs their Gas and Electricity usage so the bastard utility companies can't screw me.  :help:

The trouble is Asif has staff & servants in his mansion, castle, modest terraced house,  :whistling:  and they occasionally forget to return them from their quarters back into the Master's workshop after working on his fleet of luxury cars. I remember one time when one of the servants left a 20mm socket on the deck of his yacht during a party on the French Riviera and it rolled off the deck. All hell broke loose, it was fortunate that his shotguns were away for a service.   :sweatdrop:

Luxury car?  Yacht? Castle?  :mfr_lol:
If I did we'll be having the 2014 meet at my place!
