Well I started the merry go round of searching for insurance quotes this morning  ???

So far the cheapest quote via Go Compare for Social Domestic & Pleasure is Motorcycle Direct @ £169 but that excludes Legal Assistance, Helmet/leathers, Personal accident and breakdown recovery. If I include all of those then Motorcycle Direct Diamond offers the best deal so far @ £253 with a £250 voluntary access with £500 mandatory excess.

I am waiting for a call back from IAM Surety and Adelaide. H&R insurance were more expensive than Motorcycle Direct. The Kawasaki Insurance web site isn't working this morning and interestingly the Aviva web site doesn't recognise the bikes registration  ??? ???

So far the quotes are better then e-bike renewal of over £400 - so after 5 years with them they obviously no longer want my business.

Kind regards

Steven

I've managed to get Bennetts down from £383.86 + approx £20, for NCB protection, total £403.86  to £337.82 for everything thrown in. Legal Expenses, NCB protection, fully comp, 90 days Euto cover etc.

I guess thats some sort of result.  ::)
I still haven't committed though, I like to keep my options open.  ;D

I had the same issues on a couple of internet sites; they either didn't recognise the registration, or insisted that the bike was a ZZR 1400. The registration was recognised on other sites OK though.

I've moved from Direct to H&R, saved over £200 on the renewal quote, maybe a 'new business' discount applied?

Highest quote was over £1000!  :o

I also have had the bike listed as a ZZR1400 and interestingly when I spoke to Aviva they had the bike listed as a Z1000  ??? and they also provided the highest quote which was in excess of £800  :o - thanks but no thanks as they don't like me having a GTR and doing between 10,000 and 12,000 miles a year on Social Domestic and Pleasure riding.

Aviva did recommend Carole Nash which quoted about £253 but I have heard that so many people have had problems with Carole Nash that I probably won't bother.

My insurance is due in July and I think I'll start getting quotes now.

eBike used to be the cheapest for both car and bike for me, but in the last couple of years their premiums have really shot up. Insurance is really starting to be a PITA. If we not getting shafted by the high pump prices, we're getting shafted by insurance.

Carole Nash never gave me the R&G protectors which was on offer if you took a policy out with them. So I won't bother using them again

We've all had our advanced permits revoked as of last week. Would I still be eligible to join?

I imagine so - you did it and acheived it.

Finally I am sorted.  ;D ;D ;D

Massive thanks to Andy for putting that link up for Adelaide Insurance. The guy I spoke with, Rory did exactly what he said he would and found me a satisfactory quote, He rang me early on this morning and I have now paid out my dosh. Fully Comp, + legal assistance + NCD protection, allowed to ride other bikes, multi bike policy, EU 90 day cover, (should the wife ever allow me to leave Bradford) ;D, and only a £450 excess. All that for £252.29. I'm well chuffed with that.  ;D

I'm convinced I wouldn't have found anything better than that.

Winston, I rang the IAM today and they said that I would be eligible to join, so thats a good result. They said to download a form off their web site and then send in my certificate. Thanks for the advice, I didnt think I'd be able to do that at this stage.

Bondu

Fully Comp incl commuting - £125.54
£800 excess, other bikes covered, European 90 day cover
AND - They're organising a BBQ/Treasure Hunt/Dealers Stands show this w/e.

Glad you have it sorted  :)

The best quote I have had so far is with Motorcycle Direct which includes Legal Assistance, Helmet/leathers, Personal accident and UK breakdown recovery. A couple of companies have come very close but some companies don't seem to like the 10,000-12,000 SD&P mileage I am doing each year - although I am enjoying every mile of it.

I still have a couple of days to go, so will sort it out over the weekend.

The second worst phone call from a call centre I have ever had was with IAM Surety, the chap was very nice but his microphone was picking up every sound and phone call from within the call centre - which meant I could barely hear a word he was saying but I could hear the quotes his colleagues where giving out.

Got mine insured for 212 fully comp with MCD (includes overseas riding, riding other bikes and breakdown cover). This time they added all my accessories and modifications as well.

I hate the annual ringing-round insurance game :(. All of the bikes I want to insure have been modified which means I can't use the on-line forms and have to call. It takes forever not least because despite me offering a document containing all the bike details they always want me to tell them over the 'phone; they usually give up on this idea after I've read through the first sheet of A4. SWMBO usually deals with most of this type of stuff but of course the insurance people insist they have to talk to me.

I tend to get lazy and stay with the one I'm currently with as it's the easy option but Bike Team, a subsidiary of Equity Red Star, told me this year that they would not insure the Hayabusa now it's been over-bored. The cheapest was Carole Nash @ around £750 who insured me with...yep you've got it, Equity Red Star!

I listened to the forum, did the tel round, and still found for what i require, Carol Nash was streets ahead of everybody. I do believe they pick and choose, age, mileage, no claims %, etc plays a BIG part in the yearly fees.

Bennets would not insure my 3 bikes? they said their brokers were not interested.

Wait until the winter, the will want to know you then.

Just my thoughts.
