A fortnight ago I went to my local dealer to pick up a wheel bearing for my ZZR1200, and bought a black 2011 GTR....oops!

Collected it last Thursday and have done 635 miles, so ready for first service now, booked in advance.

After travelling on my own for 140 miles realised the suspension was all wrong for my weight, 100Kgs, but once set up properly was fantastic. The wife forgave me for my impulse purchase, after our trip to Normandy to run it in, so comfy she nodded off on the way home.

I love everything apart from the screen, at 6'3" I get buffeted and think it just needs a little extra on the screen for me, but so has every bike I've owned so no great suprise, just got to explore the miriad options available. Anyone of a similar size on here, can you let me know what works for you please? ;D

Very happy with my purchase, looking forward to 'exploring' the engines potential and picking up some advice and sage words on here.

Ah!! I can relate to your tale, three weeks ago myself and my good lady went to have a test ride on a GTR with no intention whatsoever( really) of buying one any time soon, and yes you know the rest. Mine is green and very nice too. I'm waiting till it's run in until I start suspension fiddling, so far just adjusted controls. Enjoy the bike and the forum and a big welcome    cheers Geoff ;D
What would you rather be   or a wasp?

Cartman, ouch, expensive bearing!

You obviously have a a very understanding other half. I might, (if I pluck up the courage) show your thread to my other half just to show her that its perfectly normal and acceptable behaviour to buy a new bike on a whim.  ;D ;D

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Welcome Cartman, the MRA works a treat for me, only 5' 11' me, so maybe not for you, big boy.

Ah well, understanding took time, I did fear for my man bits for a few days! and I don't have a car so the more reliable my bike the less I use her car ;)

Yeah like the look of the MRA, but not sure it will work for me. Only person I've talked to with a GTR is 6'1" and uses the bigger Kwak screen and a laminar lip, so might give that a bash.

I'm 6ft 4" and have fitted a cee Bailey ultra tour domed, also have a corbin seat. When screen down have a lot of buffeting but raise halfway and windnoise around head and shoulders disappears, fully up and the hand in the back effect takes place

I'm 6ft 2" and use an MRA Vario....its alright, but could do with being a few inches taller...or i could do with being a few inches shorter....either way ??? ::)

6ft and the mra vario didn't work for me. I currently have a calsci screen which I'm happy with.

I may have a cee baileys ultra tour for sale

Obviously depends on your body / leg ratio  :) http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Fairing.html#Height Think mine's the large which is 3" taller (about 6' 31" leg) than the large OE screen on 2010/11 models. I needed to buy 2 plastic washers from dealer which I either lost or they weren't fitted at factory. Screen is just right, maybe need to duck an inch for quiet music  :)

Well done Cartman .... sort of thing I like to hear  ... just popping down to the shops to get " this " and end up buying " that " !!
A good friend of mine  recently did the same at his BMW dealer .. took his 14 month old Gs down for a service, they gave him a R 1000 S ...( the sporty little one ) and that was it ... £14000 and 7 days later it was in the garage at work !! They gave him an excellent Px .. I would hope so ! .... and when it goes in for its 600 mile service they will plug it into the BMW gizzmo and derestrict the engine to its full 190Bhp .. the mind boggles !!
I digress a little .. I hope you enjoy the bike, they are brilliant.

Well, I went down just to have a look @ the new Z1000SX everybody is raving about and ended up buying a green GTR. :D
Can't wait to pick it up hopefully on Saturday.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Wow. Another impulsive purchaser. Welcome mecki
