Hello everyone. Signed on the dotted line today for my 07 gtr1400. Collecting next Thursday. Really enjoyed the test ride so took the plunge. Any suggestions re mods? I am 6'1" so a taller screen might be on the cards, any suggestions would be appreciated though will be looking through this forum as I'm sure I'm not the first bloke to need one and ask the question. Look forward to playing an active part in the forum and will help anyone if I can.

Welcome. There are a few of us GSers playing about over here. Check out the farkles page:

but mods you might want to consider, especially as you're tall are:

a taller screen or extension
Bar Risers

You might then want to think about a top box if you don't have one already and I reccommend Phil's Farkle rack to mount it. Then you'll probably want a GPS, mine's located on a RAM ball on the risers. Then comes the protection conundrum: 'canyon cages' (crash bars) or Topblock. I personally like the Topblock option but it's more expensive.

Then there's radiator guards, fender extendas and huggers. Some have fitted extra lighting and HID but I'm quite happy with the stock lights. Some have fancy seats but I'm happy with the stock (plus I have an airhawk if I need it). And finally you might want to fit a FZ1 Fuzeblock if you have plenty of electrical gadgets and accessories to power or charge.

This just about covers my farkles... Oh, not forgetting the obvious, the fugly exhaust. I swapped mine out for a Beowolf on virtually day 1 of ownership! It's a great bike and once had a few extra touring mods is easily one of the best sport tourers and the best value too.

Ski, hi & welcome to the forum. Hopefully come Thursday the weather will still be ok and you'll be able to go for a ride, currently been snowing here today. To be fair, the GTR is damn good straight off the production line and probably wont need too much tweaking to suit your needs.
Personally for protection I'd recommend a hugger, Pyramid or similar and a radiator guard, most go for the Beowulf design.

At 6'1" a taller after market screen, maybe a C Baileys might suit you but do some research first as it can be expensive swopping and changing until you find something that suits. On the pre 2010 model GTR the standard Kawasaki screen was a few inches shorter than the 2010 onwards model had fitted.

Your GTR might already have an aftermarket screen on, you never know.

I have a couple of the 2010+ genuine Kawasaki screens spare and a spare Beowulf radiator guard should you need anything.  :whistling:

Thanks for the warm welcome. Will wait till I get her home then see what I get for my now out of work Akrapovic can and sergeant seat from the GS. She is coming with a sports can (and original) so that's one less expensive purchase required. She's a cheeky but tasty little minx and I'm looking forward to showing her (and me) a good time. Off to yerp this year again so this little beauty will def be better on the autobahn than the Teutonic beast I had last time! Thanks again and will keep in touch.
Cheers
Ski.
P.s. Anyone else here from Northern Ireland?

Welcome Ski, once you have got your bike and had chance to ride it I'm sure you will begin to see what mods you want to make, and there's plenty of friendly helpful advice available to you on this forum.

Where abouts in N.I are you ?
