About time I changed my air filter and wondered what you guys go for and what is the going rate for one ?  :ohplease:

BigAlan

I have a K&N Air filter plus the correct cleaner and oil for it, I remove it first before draining fluids and put it back in clean last of all.

Works for me.

BMC for me. Started  using them in my race bikes a few years ago. They were recommended to me by the guy that tuned my bikes. always gave better power on the dyno than k&n. wouldn't use anything else now.

Ant

Thanks guys, how much are we talking about for said filters and where can they be bought ?

K & N I can find on fleabay, but not BMC so easily

Lonewolf

I have an aftermarket one on mine, possibly a K &N, it was in when I bought the bike. I think price wise you'd be looking between £40-£50. Good value for money though.

I heard that the K&N air filter is washable and reuseable. Is that correct?

Correct, its what i use, but you have to get the correct cleaning fluid and oil to make them last. Mine has done four changes so far and goes back in as clean as new.

I got my last few BMC filters off fleabay  but i cant remember who from. If you cant find them on there try here  http://www.sprshop.co.uk/GTR1400+08+BMC+Air+filter

Whats the difference between the BMC & K&N filters? Is the BMC washable and reuseable?

nogoslow

Yes the BMC is washable. The only reason i recommend them is that i used to use k&N because everyone else did. It wasn't until my engine tuner recommended them to me for my race bikes and i saw the difference in output on the dyno that i converted. That's not to say K&N aren't good, just that my experience is that BMC release more power. There is a race and road version of the BMC  filter aswell.
