On my ride out today I spotted something very strange. I'll set the scene ---- temp between 4-7, very dull, and miserable, heavy rain, roads awash with running water. Great day for a ride out  !!!!!. So called up at the "Bridge" to gather some more of the team, and away we go. Dent came and went, as did the viaduct at Ribblehead, a swift left turn brought us along the fantastic swooping road that heads towards Settle, a left turn off this road leads to Malham and a tea and cake stop. My return to Leyburn took me up beyond Malham tarn, and then over the fell road to Arncliffe, and ever onward to Kettlewell. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then it happened    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I passed the little cafe in the centre of this lovely little village. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There it was !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   a GTR1400 !!!!!!!!!!!!a green one, parked up, along side a couple of other bikes, the riders were obviously filling their faces in the cafe.   What's wrong with that you may ask?. Well the fact is it is the first GTR that I have know that has been brought out of the garage in the cold and wet  !!!!  ever !!!!! :mfr_lol: So stand up that man/woman    who in the face of pretty miserable conditions, actually proved that there is lots of fun to be had on two wheels the whole year round.     Footnote, that other bike that has built a reputation for going around the world, in all manner of weather conditions, and is ridden by worshippers of the brand, all kitted out in their own bomb proof,  weather proof, corporate uniforms.  So how many of those da ya reckon I saw on my 150 mile ride today.   Yep you got it        :embarrassed:                 Not a bloody one.        :ohplease:    biking aint what it used to be.

I can guarantee that I had just as much fun as you   , even in the rain. Weather forecasts ?  :mfr_lol: they are for non woolyback wussies     :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Dave you've got to remember that Geoff cannot go anywhere in the UK unless it's in the approximate area of his home address JUST IN CASE he finds himself on a motorway.

I seem to remember riding to and from work in 2010 & 2011 on my 1400,... pretty much every day, come rain or shine.
I missed 3 days because of a puncture and 5 days because of the snow we had in December 2010.
This year I choose to ride my GTR1000 as it is way comfier, has a less snatchy throttle, has a better fairing, and heated grips.
Unfortunately it is 24 years old and has 172K miles on the clock. Still runs Ok but down on power.

I've also heard that Geoff's bike is so use to going the same "local" places that he only need to start it, sit on it, and point it either to the right or left depending which way he went the last time :mfr_lol:

So true, I live in one of the most lovely places on earth, with spectacular scenery, and roads that could have been built with motorcycle riding enjoyment as a number one priority. So I have no reason to ride anywhere else. The Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, Northumberland, The lake District and The Scottish Borders fulfill my every motorcycling need.

Dave I must be honest here, on my Sunday ride out I had the Mode button on full power, and number 3 for traction control, and ya know I was squelling like a child as I accelerated out of corners whilst watching the traction control orange light flashing on and off. Just one of the joys of actually riding a bike in the rain, It's great fun, you really should try it some time.  :whistling:   :mfr_lol:

Not all mine. I bought it with 82k on the clock.
Have 55k on the 1400 since 2007 plus about 30k on the 1000.
Commuting by bike sure racks up the miles.
