Hi all

Thinking of adding a camera to my Christmas list, thought I would ask the wise and knowledgeable people on here for there input!!!
I don't fancy a helmet mounted one, the go pro looks good.

viper

go pro seems the be the default choice,

debs has got a credible alternative, be interested to hear her views on her purchase

You can buy the new GoPro 3+ from places like Argos, you can even get it on interest free credit if you want. Very small now and much, much lighter than its predecessors.

Rusty

No point in getting anything other than a GoPro 3 .. the benchmark of all kit !

There is a Ghost-S that has just been released, which has a higher frame rate but I honestly couldn't tell the difference.

O.C.

GoPro has really set the benchmark in action cameras, but there are others on the market that are also very good, I believe that the Drift is one of them

I've got the drift....... it s not got the wifi to preview on phone but it has remote and does me fine and im pleased with the results in 1080 HD

The Ghost is about £100 cheaper than the go pro but the new go pro has the ability to record in ultra high definition.

I just joined up and saw this post. I have an original GoPro and although it takes great video and stills, in my opinion if your taking video whilst riding with your mates ( how do you like my EU vernacular) you will find it's field of view is so wide that you literally must be riding next to the other rider so you can see him otherwise it appears that those in front of you are much farther away than they actually are. I understand that they changed the field of view on newer models but only narrowed it but didn't give it any actual zooming. I don't use mine on the bike at all anymore and just use it in the sports car.

Thanks for all your input, think I will put the GoPro on the Christmas list, hopefully Santa will deliver!!

Make sure you go for the Black 3+ model. That is the top of the range one, average price £360 and then you'll need a Micro SD card, again but the best quality you can, get a minimum of Class 10. Try and buy the card from a computer wholesaler rather than somewhere like PC World as their prices are astronomical.

I think gopro are doing an offer of a free sd card with the new 3+. Get saving for a new PC / laptop to cope with the editing though  :mfr_lol:
