Well after loads of grief trying to get the 'warped discs' sorted out ( again ) with Kawasaki under warranty, Ive taken the plunge and bought some from China.

Well they turned up this morning and I only ordered them last Tuesday, great service so far.

I shall fit them shortly and let you know how they fair, lets face it, if they last a year I can buy 6 sets of these and its still cheaper than genuine ones.

If they don't work out, at least I've tried them and its only cost £120 and you don't have to waste your money !

Hi Ant,

I have just had these fitted to.. I also had new pads put in at the same time. There is a little bit of vibration when braking but I put that dow to them being new..

They look good, the vibration could simply be the pads settling in to the callipers after being replaced. I've had that on mine before.

Ant is your bike still under warranty or extended warranty? Only reason I ask is I paid £400 for the extended warranty and I'll be a bit pissed off if Kawasaki pick and chose which warranty claims they honour and which they don't.

18 month old ..... It had discs and shock when Nige ( who was on here for a while ) had it.... I did post my dissatisfaction as regards my issues with one dealer ( Mainly 'THE OTHER BIKE SHOP LINCOLN !!! ) who slagged him off as being a 'pain in the ass' customer and fobbing me off everytime i rang up or went down.....and then tried ROBspeed in Grimsby, who to be fair were more helpful, but lacked communication between themselves, which resulted in me loosing confidence.
I take the bike in ( 50 mile ) and ask for a 11250 service, claim on discs and claim on cracked glovebox.....2 weeks later they ring to say all done....
" so how did you get on with all the work?" i ask.....
" glove box all done " was the reply
" and the service and discs ?" I ask...................silence !!!
"...ermmmm let me check,,,,,,,,sorry we hadn't got that on our sheet, I'll come back to you"

2 days later I got a call regarding the single disc as the other was just within tolerance......As it had had new discs, they ( Kawasaki ) were not prepared to replace the discs again and out of a gesture of good will, offered to replace one disc at half price ( £149 plus fitting )  :surrender: :surrender: :sweatdrop:...screw that, if they cant get it right the first time, what makes the second batch any different !!!
so now I have stuffed the warranty and doing everything myself......as usual !!

I thought you were getting some at some point, didn't think you'd bothered with moving

Lets hope the vibrations are because they are new.....time will tell.....

Yet another Kawasaki horror story!

Ant

Right, thats all done, we will see how they go.

Lonewolf

I'm surprised you got them on that quickly. No issues with fitting I take it?

Ant

No, took about an hour from onto the lift to off. Only thing I have noticed ( which could be the cause of Debs vibration ) is the collars to allow the discs to 'float' are not as substantial as the originals. Maybe thats a good thing....or not !.. :whistling:

Bournemouth Kawasaki fitted mine for me... The bike was in for service and they rang me to say the discs were low at 4.2mm but no need to change them, but the pads needed replacing..

Knowing what insurance companies are like in trying to wriggle out of paying, you can guarantee that if I was involved in an accident they would say "The minimum is 4.5 so we will not pay out".

I decided to pop the new discs and pads up to BK so they could fit them.

I may not be moving to Canada now. Seems like I'm too old to be taken on by anyone over there.

Ant

Thats a shame, obviously their loss and our gain......

Rusty

Can't comment on the mechanics of it all but I am sure there is an "old" thread on this disc problem and those who went to E Bay and purchased the "Chinese cheapies" have in fact been very pleased with them and find them to be of good value .....

viper

i had Chinese arshai rotors on my zzr1200 for a few years and they were great , id say better than the stockers, they never had the rust trace on them through the winter unlike the oem.

Boomer has had them on his GTr and speaks well of them !

vfrtom

Some of you may recall I had to replace front rotors after 18 months and 16k miles. Kawasaki were not interested as they said wear and tear.
If they go again, I will definately not fit OEM. The last set cost nearly £800!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pads, rotors and fitting.

I have had these Arashi disks on mine for about 6,000 miles now. They work fine, but the pulsing/vibration never quite goes away.

For anyone fitting these to their bike, please check that the ABS sensor is not rubbing against the new disk. I had to space my ABS sensor out half a mm, and I think Boomer had to do the same.

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

Thanks for that heads up
