Yesterday, 10th September we went to Combaton Combat Collection at Chittlehampton to go see a private collection of WW11 (mostly) memorabilia.
It wasn't a bad collection, what was a tad concerning that you could actually purchase deactivated firearms. I was tempted to buy  a Bren, they look pretty awesome and it would look good mounted on my flat garage roof!
Here's a small collection of some of the photos I took.

They even had a glider which they said was the same as the one used in the film, A Bridge Too Far.

How do you just come about buying something like this?

Something on the two wheeled theme for Geoff & Roger.

The guy had many trucks similar to the one below in the background in addition to a vast number of armoured vehicles.

We didn't do much else yesterday, just chilled out, walking the dogs who are loving the place.

Today, the weather was much better so we went to Bude where by hook or by crook we managed to get a bite to eat consisting of chips, hot bacon baguette with salad, hot sausage baguette with caramelised onions, half pint of fresh pineapple juice and a cappuccino for less than £4, an absolute bargain.  :whistling:

After a short walk we headed to my birthplace, a very small village just outside Wadebridge.

Every few years I keep going back to see how things have changed, its a very quaint village with some lovely properties.

A true Cornish Gent I am.

On the route back to the cottage we popped into the Jamaica Inn just off the A30.

I tried to get our lass to pose in the Stocks but apparently that isn't nice or appropriate to do when you are away on a break for your anniversary. How the hell was I supposed to know that? I just thought it'd be funny. :mfr_lol:

We then spent an enjoyable 20+ miles stuck behind firstly a bloody Police car & then a bloody HGV on the country lanes trying to get back home with no opportunity to overtake.

Nice piccies Steve ... perhaps you could get the Bren Gun back to your nick and "talk" to your Guvvna about that overtime !
St Tudy ? Named after a monk I believe ...... looks a gorgeous place to live although I imagine it might be a bit pricey !

O.C.

Good stuff Steve, is that nold bike an early Villiers, I'm not sure maybe my learned buddy will enlighten me

Its all become crystal clear  now that you've admitted to being a Cornishman not a Yorkshireman  :mfr_lol:

Good to see that you're having a good time

Cornwall / Yorkshire ....... both well known for being tight arses. How tight could a Cornish Yorkshire man possibly be??? Might have a little Scottish blood too!  :whistling:

O.C.

Ya cheeky bugger .....we Yorkshire folk aren't tight at all....frugal maybe...but not tight....next thing you'll be telling me is that scousers are funny  :mfr_lol:

Haha nice one olde ........ I'm no scouser though, just bringing a little bit of sophistication to the north, a bit like the crusades of old hehe

From Plymouth originally with a good bit of Scottish blood from my Mum too, so not far from being a Cornish Scottish tight arse either!

Go to Lynton/Lynmouth and ride the cliff railway.
If you like olde-worlde stuff Dunster in Somerset has a nice old castle and is quaint.
