Hi am going for a few days to applecross,  on sat. have not been before , has any body any tips or words of wisdom , am hoping it does not rain to bad ,,,,,,, :biker3:

Have you sorted somewhere for a stop off on the way?

The Argyll hotel in Inveraray is pretty good....If you head out to Greenock and take the Dunoon ferry the road the other side is stunning

Then after Inveraray head over to the Isle of Seil on the way up

The Applecross inn is a bit expensive but nice rooms  ... take your mossie repellant ..... you'll need it , especially when you stop for photo's on the pass   :censored:

I've only ever done The Pass in the car twice, got to the other side and turned round and did it again. One way was horrendous weather and yet the immediate return journey was dry and bright, that's how quick the climate can change.

Rain or shine you'll love Scotland, our recent trip which was four days of heavy rain was still a brilliant experience.

Have not got anything booked , not sure how far I will get so will look to get some where on the way ,

I have stayed at both of these, both recommended.

Both about 40 minutes from Applecross.

well just looked at the weather forcast  and the only place it is going to rain is  just where I want to be , as I am taking my 10 year old I did not want it to chuck it down all the time ,  shall review it in the morning  might have to head the other way .

Lonewolf

Seriously, I wouldn't miss a long weekend away just on the off chance there could be some rain. Be committed and get going.

Rusty

Sometimes Steve I think you should be committed !! :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Hrcblade

I'll be up there next week, can't wait

sorry to say I chickened out , due to forcast of heavy rain and 40mph winds ,  I had a ride to devils bridge , then on to ambleside  , then I went across wrynose   and hardknot  pass , which was very bumpey and rough road , then up to workinton . then across the 66  and to scotch corner and home , had a little play with a 911  on the way back , up to 145  but the gtr   went into a weave above 120 , seemed worse the more you lean down , had full luggage on so have put it down to that , the top box must get a lot of wind , I have noticed before that it is a lot more stable when I am sat up , when you get down behind the fairing it seems to go light on the front .  as I always have a top box on , has any body else had these symptons ,  :biker3:

Lonewolf

Everybody knows I'm the slowest rider on here :whistling: , however I believe with the top box on the recommendation is that you don't go above 80!

I always ride with the panniers and top box on and yet I have been known to far exceed that without any wobble.
