Is it worth it? That extra warranty.

I have until the end of the month to decide if I want to pay the £399 for the two extra years warranty, I do my own servicing with genuine parts and I always do it before the recommended mileage, I check the bike weekly and make sure it's clean and tidy, so what do others think of paying this money for the extended warranty? Would it be piece of mind money or wasted money.

Thanks

is a condition of the warranty that the bike is serviced by a kawasaki dealer, if you made a claim would they use the own servicing fact to refuse to pay ?

Not that I am aware of, for instance when I had my Triumph's I also did my own servicing and they never questioned it at all, I seem to remember me having some EU legislation information with me should they have made a fuss, with that in mind I don't feel Kawasaki can refuse a warranty claim on the basis they didn't service the bike.

I broached this very topic with Kawasaki fairly recently and their response was that providing the bike was serviced by a competent individual there wouldn't be a problem, however its like everything else. Without that confirmation in writing and without putting it to the test its a gamble.

I bought the extended warranty this March, I've never used it yet, although I did make two claims on the original 2 year warranty which otherwise would have cost me in excess of £1200, so in my opinion it is worth it for peace of mind alone, whether used or not.

When I say I so my own servicing that's correct but it's done in a mates garage business service with him checking everything and stamping my book when he is happy.

But i take your point with regards to piece of mind.

Even though so far I have had mine dealer serviced there are still bits and bobs I like to do myself.

BA ... with Steve on this one, it's £200 a year for total peace of mind ... remember that no matter how well you look after something it MAY just break on you and I think you would be hard pushed to find anything on a Gtr that costs less than £200 to replace ... apart from the incy wincy bits ... suspension, flakey exhausts, warping discs, digital displays ..... I rest my case

I just hope they honour the extended warranty in Germany too since I bought it just before I got the job offer there.
Would be a real pain if I had a claim and had to take the bike all the way to the UK to get it fixed under warranty.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

I am sure the warranty is covered Ll around Europe, I know Suzuki is as a mate had to visit a place in Belgium a few years ago with a fault.

I have done the deed and paid up to Mr K, and also to Mecki for the exhaust.

Got to be worth it for when the TPS sensors go.  And I'm sure they will

Well prompted, I forgot I've had one of those replaced too which I think is about the £300 mark!
