Hello folks

I recently bought a CAF on a 10 plate and am loving it !
So much so I am already in need of a 7.5k service so as I bought the bike from a dealer not exactly on the doorstep I start phoning around (mainly cos I'm tight )
The bike is a Kwak approved so has a full warranty as if new so requires a Kwak dealer to do the service but I was quite surprised by the difference in what I have been quoted.

Clay Cross £ 330
Drayton croft £320
Dmc £300
And the cheapest Corby Kwak £260

No experience of Corby Kwak so can anyone tell me why they shouldn't get the business ???

Many thanks

BigAlan

Because you can do it yourself heaps cheaper that's why.

Hi

It is not necessary to have your service done by a Kawasaki dealer when under warranty. The only criteria to keep warrany is that Kawasaki parts are used during the service. Mine is under warranty and I use a non franchised dealer that I trust  and no prob with warranty. So shop aopund. In my opinion main dealers tend to charge more and don't necessarily do a good job.

Used to get mine serviced at RobSpeed in Grimsby.  They were always reasonable, using a 'table' that Kawasaki supply for the costs of service.  RobSpeed told me the cost should be the same wherever you go as K set the price.  Only difference may be if there was extra stuff that had worn (pads for example).

Ring them for the price to compare.

Kawasaki used to list the fixed cost of service but I can't find it now.

Whilst I can understand the self or independent servicing issue, I would still stick with dealer service.  If you are unfortunate enough to have a claim, I am sure you would receive a better response returning to the servicing dealer than turning up out of the blue with "it's broken - fix it dealer" - Whilst they will be obliged to do so, you may find you are last in the queue!

Having it dealer serviced means they have a record, can resolve any recalls, no quibble in case of a warranty claim proving  it has been serviced within the requirements - Schedules/OEM Parts etc

Thanks for the response I tend to agree hence the question about Corby Kawasaki.
My personnel view on DIY servicing is fine if your prepared to take a hit when selling the bike later on without a full dealer history.from my own point of view I would always choose and be prepared to pay more for a bike with one.

But that's the beauty of bikes .....choice.

It may be that you choose to have a dealer do all the servicing but do one or two jobs yourself which the dealer doesn't normally do.
