Although I've not got my GTR anymore  I would still like to come in now and again for some bollock talk  and show you some of my recent trips and what I think of my versys 1000.. yes.. Andy "Rossendale rider" we stayed at the same hotel in loch long than we did

2 nights 3 days around Scotland good chance to see how the Versys 1000 stands up to the zzr1441.. just over 1,000 miles in 3 days and very impressed with the Versys, mate was on his hayabusa so missed the acceleration of my ZZR! he can't get passed me when I'm on my ZZR  but there again! after 8 hours in the saddle, I never walked like I'd :shit: myself when I got of the versys. been hearing not so good reports from the standard scorpion tyres so was a little concerned because we planned on having lots of fun on the brilliant roads around Glencoe and isle of sky. I found the standard tyres to be excellent and the versys handled very well indeed.. even when pushed hard!!!! so we weren't hanging around! in fact seen a few of those ducati guys off as well  we were very lucky with the weather. the only fault I can find with the versys 1000 is when shutting off the power after dropping down from high revs I was getting quite a lot of vibration through the seat, foot rests, handle bars, but not when riding at a steady speed or dropping from low revs! is this just the Characteristics of the bike or should I be looking to tighten something!!! glad I got the top box for extra luggage but needed to buy the special fixing plate for the givi universal fitting plate.. the original rack was not secure enough for my liking. on the way.. called into devils bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale for a brew and bacon buttie.. was hoping to see the "old boy" "100 miles away" there, but he had orders from his wife that they must go out in the car  then through Windermere, castle Douglas, Kilmarnock, over Erskin bridge then on to our first stop at the hotel "Arrochar" loch long a nice meal and few beers next day booked in to our 2nd hotel "Cruachan" in fort William, then spent the day touring Glencoe, isle of sky, and various places on route. back to the hotel about 18.00 hours a few beers town was less than a 5 min walk then a meal and a few more beers.. doesn't get any better than that!!!!  here is a few pics! hope you enjoy looking at them..

Start of second day.. view of "loch long" just outside the hotel. just leaving for fort William

there was also a ducati meeting going on so was plenty of bikers about

My versys with the brilliant view of Glencoe

just arrived back to the hotel in Fort William after a full day around Glencoe and the isle of sky

View just out outside the hotel in Fort William

so many places to visit!!

Dave, sounds like you had the weather we wished we'd had when we went up to Scotland in June.
So you see that top box came in handy regardless of where you were heading.
Was it decent weather on Skye as well then?

 very lucky with weather all day Friday and all day Saturday  weather in sky was excellent, but rained from the Sunday when we left fort William but managed to ride it out just as we got over Erskin bridge, then it stayed dried till a few miles from home, then it lashed it down

Rossendale Rider

Looks like another good trip Dave.  I bet you never had to walk in the horizontal driving rain for drink! Were the resident band as bad?

 never stayed there long enough to find out  didn't get there till 6 ish then had a  :shit: shave and a shower "but not necessarily in that order" then down to the "village inn" the one were we went to when we lost the will to live after listening to that excuse for a singer at the hotel   the village inn did have a live group on and they didn't sound like someone was strangling a cat :mfr_lol:

Dave .. looks like you had a great trip .. and the weather to go with it, which must have made a massive difference.

Scotland is such a lovely place ... in retirement I shall have to go back and be really nomadic ... just take a couple of weeks and go where you like when you like ... so much to see and do !!

O.C.

Nice pics Dave, good to see that you had a successful trip, and that the Versys performed well.

The Vibes are a 'feature' of the bike BTW

yep think your right about the vibes  can't find anything loose  really enjoyed riding the versys also surprised on how well it handles  also found the standard tyres to have excellent grip done just on 2,000 miles now and showing very little sign of wear  which makes a change from my ZZR rear tyre which after 2,000 miles it's time to change  "but there is no punch without Judy"
