Because of the good weather I have been riding with the screen in the down position for the last couple of weeks now, i have noticed that i am now achieving 50.4 mpg compared with 46.2 - 47 with the screen up, my riding style has not changed, lets hope the good weather continues.
get a grip and deal with it

50mpg??? You must have more self restraint than I have as I get 36mpg and thats using OD+ECO for the boring bits

I reguarly get 50mpg, aint that the norm?

Kwikasfuki

I've tried to exercise restraint and the mpg shoots up. Unfortunately, the restraint quickly wears off

At the moment I am up around 47 mpg, as I have had some fairly easy relaxed rides outs recently but usually its around 45mpg on more progressive rides

There are only solutions

I am averaging around 43-45mpg, it was at 47 on a long motorway run...but never over 50!! ;D
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

I'm getting 45 - 50 mpg on a 2009 bike.  50 mpg on my Plymouth/Doncaster trips 80 - 90 mph cruising.

I normaly get 43 to  46 depending on how I ride.

At one point over the weekend on the 3 day trip it was upto 50 but ended up at 46. This is comparable to my p[revious CBF so im happy.

On the smae trip my mate on his K1300GT got over 50mpg

Rusty

Been running the new bike in and at 2800 miles I have 47.3 .... I expect that to change quite soon !

zedmeister

36 MPG youre either on USA setting or your bike needs looking at, i dont know anyone that gets below 42

Fred ... that can't be right ... 36 ?? Unless you cane the arse off it all day but you state that you use the ECO for the boring bits ... I am bewildered ! Anyone else out there got any ideas ... apart from Zedman who may well be spot on .

Kwikasfuki

I'm definitely on th UK settings. I sometimes have a eager throttle hand

Every test of the GTR that I have read (admittedly not many) has been critical of the GTR's fuel consumption and has quoted figures in the 30's so my 36mpg isn't unexpected as far as I am concerned and it is set to UK gals.

Using OD+ECO at NSL on motorways etc gives a current fuel consumption reading of between 60-80mpg so I don't think there is anything wrong with the bike its just the type of riding that I do, I'll always take the scenic route to get to where I'm going.

Been riding for 35yrs and riding on motorways has never been fun. A typical run for me is 200mls and maybe 20mls of that is motorway (sometimes zero) the rest is A B and unclassified roads where you need the drive of the lower gears.

I did three hundred miles yesterday average 43mpg, that was with use of ECO mode, welsh mountain roads and the odd bit of dual carriage way, I am not that light handed with my right hand either, I'm happy with that consumption
