Hi all, this topic has been covered i know, but, does anyone know if the latest genuine tank pad set fits the 2009, I can't seem to be able to get the correct one for the 2009....

Did the tank change shape on the latest model...? Or will they all inter change.....

Ta......

Still luvin this f.kin bike they are just fab......
For the love of old English sheep dogs....

The shape of the tank did not change. The only change was the "cubbyhole" of the previous models that were on top of the tank was moved to the side on the newer models. Tank pad sets are therefore interchangeable.

There are 2 types of design very similar to each other, but one has thicker white ( ish ) lines than the other but they are a generic fit. The thinner line one is the original, When fitting use a heat gun to soften the material and mark your tank with reference points ( masking tape ) then begin to place the pads onto the tank very very slowly rubbing the pad with your thumb to get rid of any air bubbles.

I have one on my bike but whoever put it on made a bollocks of it, there are air bubbles everywhere, so i am going to replace it, i just hope it comes off ok only ever put them on.
get a grip and deal with it

Ah yes, I'm pretty sure mine were put on either upside down or at the wrong angle. The lines look strange...

Boomer

I believe the new ones are transparent where the older ones were colour coded to the bike.
Other than that they look identical to me.

It's amazing how dealers can sometimes make a complete cock up of even the simplest tasks, for example fitting a tank pad and knee cheeks correctly and not all cock eyed....here's how my last GTR was presented from PDI.

Hi Rog, that is a disgrace, shoddy workmanship, that is why i use reference points ( masking tape ) to get the allignment spot on.

The early pads were only done in black, the latest ones are transparent to give the effect of colour coding, as in your picture Rog.

Dead right Zed, a strip of masking tape set horizontal with the centre pencil marked and an equivalent piece on the pad also marked with a centre pencil reference point all that is required is to line it all up and match the centre pencil marks, and apply carefully working from the centre out.
