Had a bump on my poor gtr last week.....

6.5k worth of repairs on a 59 plate but they haven't confirmed if its a total loss, be surprised if its not.

Been thinking what I can replace it with so another gtr it will be as there's nothing out there I would prefer (within my financial reach) - if they write it off.

I'm hoping to find out today.

Ros

Oh NO!  Are you ok though?

What went wrong?

If the worst is its written off get everything extra you have put on the bike off before it goes anywhere, you can either use them again or sell them.

Also, get a price from the Insurance company to buy it back if the chassis is not bent, you could spend a few months getting the parts from eBay or breakers and have your pride and joy back.

Sorry to hear that, hope your foots not too badly mashed. Sounds like it'll be a right off at that cost though but I could be wrong.

Hope you get mobile again ASAP.

Blade - sorry to hear of your unfortunate incident, main thing is you are not too badly hurt. I will tell you my story, i had my garage broken into feb 2010, to cut a long story short i had my bike screwdrivered and white paint poured all over the bike ( black GTR ). The bike was 09 reg caused £5,500 damage needless to say it got written off. The insurance valued the bike at £9000, i asked how much to buy it back i was told £3200 so i bought it back repaired the bike at minimal cost. Now because the bike was malicious damage it was registered as a category 'D' write off, your bike will be a cat 'C' this is an accident write off. I decided to px the bike after about a year, i must have called a dozen dealers no one was interested, i did eventually move the bike on to a dealer for not much more than the £3200 i paid for it.

Think very very carefully about buying the bike back especially if it were to be a cat 'C', you will not be able to eventually sell it on, unless you break it. The insurance company may not wish to sell it back anyway. With my experience i would say take the money and look for another one.
get a grip and deal with it

Hrcblade

Cheers guys

I didn't break anything but foot is causing me lots of pain. I've seen a breakdown of the repair which includes new frame. Carole Nash have recommended write off just waiting for insurance confirmation. I won't be buying it back got my eye on new red one just need the confirmation.

Lonewolf

Are you able to tell us how it happened?

Ros

Ah yes... i split the frame of my ZZR in two and it was an instant economical write off.  To be fair, I was quite lucky,to walk away from that one. My fault entirely. Misjudged a corner and got a closeup of an armco barrier.  Interestingly, the only thing I hurt was my foot too - although not as badly as you...

Glad you're basically OK though. I hope you can get enough from the insurance to get a replacement. I was not so lucky...

Rusty

Firstly, and like the others I hope you are ok and your foot is on the mend ... Nasty business ... What happened ? Are you able to explain ?

Hrcblade

I was on a dual carriageway 40 mph in lane 2 a car in lane 1. Approaching lights which were green doing about 35 mph. There was a filter lane to my right with lights on red and a car which last minute switched lanes into my lane then did an emergency stop on a green light, but I hadn't had time to lose enough distance as it all happened within a very short distance. I hit the car bike went up on front when and fell to left landing on my foot. Thank god for Daytona boots....

I'm on the mend, bikes been written off, and new one being ordered later.

Ros

Bah!

Emergency stop on green light? I presume there was no emergency to stop for apart from mishearing the gps/answering the phone/lighting a smoke....

Lonewolf

Did they say why they decided to stop?
