Hi

The warning light and 'FI' flashed briefly whilst I was at a standstill at lights, hasn't come on again, 70 miles since it occurred. Any experience of this, should I be taking the bike to the dealership or does this happen now and again?

Thank's

Richard

What model and at what mileage? Was it during the break in period? There have been reports of this error occurring infrequently. Looks like nothing to worry about if its just happened the once. Just monitor it.

Thank's.

It's a 2011 with 950 miles on it, I'll just keep an eye on it.

I'd be inclined to return it to the dealer and let them do a diagnostic check on it. The reason why I say this is that if you ignore a fault signal whether genuine or not and then further complications arise causing damage to the engine etc the Kawasaki warranty may not be honoured as it could be construed that you have been negligent in ignoring a fault, its just a thought, but is it worth the risk?

Back to the dealer to do diagnostic!

Could be rectifier and/or charger - or ......  What is your VOLT reading before start and after?

I'll give the dealer a bell today, just to cover my back.

Hi Mosegaard, voltage prior to atart is 12.2v, after start is 14.2v.

Cheers

Voltages look 'right', but agree with the above...whilst in Warranty, any queries or wobbles should be looked at  ;D
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Hi.

I've just had the bike serviced at the dealer and they snapped a tyre pressure sensor but replaced it with a normal valve until the new one arrives. They warned me that this is safe but I may get an error on the dash and hey presto, I'm getting F1 occasionally, so maybe F1 means tyre pressure sensor failure?

I'm hoping that as soon as the sensor gets replaced, that will be the end of that.

Just had a look at the owners manual regarding the "F1" problem. If you look at page 47 you will see that if the warning message comes on or flashes, then there could be a problem with the digital fuel injection system. Looks like it could be something to do with the fuel injection electrical control unit. The manual recommends you have the system checked out by an authorized Kawasaki dealer. Hope this info is of use.

My needs are very few. It's my wants that are expensive!

Hi,

It's not happened since, now got 1850 miles on it, told the dealer & they've noted it, should there be a problem in the future.

I've now got a slow air leak from the rear tyre valve, loses 4 - 5 psi overnight, dealer will sort at next visit.
