How many of us on here have a Zumo 660 and have experienced glare or poor visibility in bright sunlight of the screen? What have you done about it, is there a simple fix?

Me ......

I bought a clip on shade which works ~ a bit...... however on my previous TomTom GPS I had a Glare Stomper which worked well, seen here, I think the Stomper is a better proposition and can be fitted to a Garmin 660

I can't lay my hands on the info regarding the clip on shade, but will post a link when I find it

Heheh!  Yeah I know.  Although to be honest, I have more difficulty squinting at the text to find out if it's a mobile or fixed safety camera alert.  Also, I started riding in 'automobile mount mode' because it displays the speed limit.  I know they're not right half the time, but you just can't tell from the road signs here in Italy.  Sometimes you have no idea what the limit is.  No-one seems to give a toss anyway...

Got one.. Better than nowt.... Just...

You know the most annoying thing for me?   Speed turning red when over the limit... And then you can't read it at all  :hammer:

The 660 does have some quirky ways about it ...and it always seems to want to take a different route to other Sat Navs

Yes it does! Last week i set it to take me frm here to the South of France. I set fastest route and rather than taking the Tangenziale (basically a ring road) it took me through the centre of Milano... Like a complete berk I followed it and I was stuck in there for an hour battling with traffic and lights etc.  Grrrrrr!

I'd just updated the maps too, so I thought that some of the newer roads would feature... And maybe it knew something I didn't....  NO.

It did the same thing to me in The Netherlands last month too...

Mine did the same to me when we were returning from the Somme last September, it wanted to take me into the centre of Brugge for some strange reason....I ignored it and stayed on the main road

I found one today on the Touratech site which I've ordered. They assured me it worked so I'll give it a go.

My garmin 660 is also quirky about routes. I recently got mine and went to Oulton Park from Peterborough area this weekend just gone and it took me down some single track country lanes for the first 20 or so miles!!  Leaving Oulton Park after the BSB round it's quirkiness paid off as it took me from the circuit completely in another route than all the main traffic.

I am off to Imola in June for the WSBK and can't imagine the route it will take me.  I will take some crib notes so if it starts trying to take me through any cities I will know to stay on the particular autoroute.

Lonewolf

If you plot a route, i.e. A to B via ....you won't have that problem.

A couple of things about avoiding those 'quirky' routes:

1) Switch from motorcycle mode to autmobile mode (there is an icon at top centre of the start up screen) - automobile mode will tend to stick to main roads ie motorways, dual carriagteways, A roads etc rather motorcycle mode which will take you down the more country/twisty motorcyling type roads.
2) Plan you route in Basecamp first and transfer to the sat nav, you can tweak the route to suit your preferences.

and Finally................
you don't have to follow the sat nav directions - apply common sense if the road doesn't look suitable ie its a narrow road or it takes you through a city centre which you want to avoid.
