I know the CR2025 or CR2032 will fit and work happily in my FOB but what is in the wheel for the TPS?

I hope it's the same as I have a few of these with solder tags on from the manufacturer.

It's a 2032 with tabs like this (or similar)

See this discussion in the US forum for pics of the disassembly.

Looks like what I have, our electronics guy ordered some other stuff and got sent 20 of these and they don't want them back, I will double check tomorrow but they look the same.

Result if they are.

Cahnging tyres so I thought I'd have a play with the TPS on both wheels.  I put a voltmeter across the old battery as it was doing the usual no readings until the tyres warmed up a bit.  I got 3.03 volts on one and 2.99 on the other.  As a guide a new CR2032 gives 3.30 volts.

I cannot find a battery that exactly corresponds to the original with the tabs at 90degrees to each other, so I've experimented by soldering wires onto the plain 2032 battery and then soldering those wires into the existing TPS chassis.  Still showing full voltage, so they don't appear to be troubled by the heat from the soldering iron.

New PR3s go on on Saturday morning, so time will tell.  I'll keep you posted.  Hope it works as it only costs a couple of quid at the most.  if it does work I'll post up some piccies

TPS fitted along with new tyres and I'm happy that the sensors work straight off again

The TPS disassembled

A standard CR2032 battery with wired solered onto it

Here it is soldered in place

In the holder

Just a word of warning.  Make sure you have a good soldering iron, one that can deliver a good dollop of heat quickly.  A smaller, slower iron will just heat up the battery and cook it.  Guess how I found that out!

Worth checking the battery voltage once its all soldered up.  You are looking for 3.30 volts

I'm sure someone mentioned in the past that you can purchase CR2032 batteries with a tab in place already

Good pics though. Will be useful when I get back on a bike lol

Not quite the same, but I guess could be made to fit.  I have loads of plain 2032s in stock, so it made sense to have a go

Now you've got the soldering nailed you could make it into a little business  :whistling:

Yeah yeah yeah

No

I don't mind risking my own stuff, but I'm not going to do it for anyone else at £175 each to replace if owt goes wrong
