Hi
I pinched this from the Fj / Fjr owner forum , i will leave you to make your own minds up to if it for real or not ,but is seems unlikely to me ....... or  do i just really hope it is a fake seeing as i use Bridgstone on one of my bikes

Good job he checked his tyres before setting off I say

I don't know how Bridgestone's frozen temp policy would get in a court of law unless there's a specific disclaimer within their tyre specifications.

The temperature doesn't drop below zero in the Rev Shed nor do I intend to be caught out in below zero temperatures, but that may not be the case for some of us on here

To be fair to Bridgestone, That tyre looks like it had been dug up along side a woolly mammoth, before it went on the bike. Not sure how far Bridgestone go back  though as a tyre producer  :whistling:    Just thought I would mention that  :mfr_lol:.

the tyre wasn.t old it was stamped 2012 ,makes you think .if he hadn't of checked his tyres what would  have happened. very bad customer service. if it were me i think i would be taking it further.how many others have went like that ????

That is very disturbing.....both the condition of the tyre and the response. So are they saying the tyre is not really suitable for the UK?

Rusty

Never seen at tyre like that before ... very strange, as is the reply from Bridgestones themselves ...........

Hi

I have been to several talks on tyres and I am going to one by Bridgestone next week.
There is a fair amount of technology/chemistry that goes into the compound, materials and the construction of the tyre to make sure the tyre will operate ie provide grip etc in a range of of differing climates ie from cold to the very warm. I seem to recall this information is provided in the technical data sheets, which aren't always readily available but I can't off hand remember the typical temperature range is plus it will vary depending on the type of tyre and the manufacturer ie a sports/track tyre will be designed to operate in a narrow temperature warmer ranges where a touring tyre will have a wider operating temperature range.

What I don't know from that article is what temperatures was the bike/stored in - if it was below freezing for prolonged periods then it may well be true that the compound has cracked.

Motorists often are sceptical of the benefit of winter car tyres but other than a possible different tread patterns to get rid of water etc the tyres/compounds etc would be designed to operate at lower temperatures ie typically below 7 deg.

There are only solutions

I would have thought that KHI R & D dept would have considered which OEM tyres to fit to bikes which are then destined for various places across the world where different weather conditions prevail.

Hmmmmm

That must have been damn cold to get that to happen.... Perhaps he thought he was Heston Blumentile... And used liquid nitrogen.....

But a 1000 mile ride, so much for preparation, what happened to a bucket of water?
