I know some of this has been covered before but .......... Are you a "sprayer" or a "wiper" ?
Sounds nasty doesn't it ?
Being just a bit anal about keeping the Gtr in tip top condition I have been looking at ACF 50 sites/sales/AYB adverts etc and I have always gone along the lines of spraying it into a soft cloth and wiping everything metallic in sight, which seems to work well as after a short time it will "creep" into the places that perhaps your fingers can't get to ...
The alternative is of course just to spray the bike at random and empty your tin ... ONE little gem I picked up was that before you start bring your tin in from the cold/cooler garage and put it in a bowl of warm water to increase the pressure inside the tin thus giving you a bit of extra squirting power !!!!!!! Easy !  :smartass:
And I am sure, or rather I know there are a few older members here who would all like a bit of extra squirtiness !

Same technique works when you 'run out' of shaving foam!

What? You squirt it on a cloth  and rub it on anything metal????

tommytool

There is a tube of grease available also. Never tried it. Would that work better than cloth and can?

I tend to spray liberally virtually everywhere on the engine, electrics etc and then give it a wipe down with a soft cloth. Seems to work, any that's on the exhaust will burn off but some will remain and still offer protection.

Had my bike done by all year biker.... he used an atomiser to spray the bike under a sheet..... and then used ACF50 on a rag to wipe the stuff on to the black bodywork ...

He said that if you put too much on it just attracts the crap..... so I tend to spray onto a cloth and then wipe  :smartass:

Rusty

Then thats all agreed ... ACF 50 is used by many whatever your manner of application !

If applying ACF50 yourself. Spray a little onto a microfibre cloth and wipe it onto metal and plastic components.
ACF50 is an ultra thin film fluid. This means that it works at just a few microns thick and "creeps" once applied. If it is sprayed on from a can you will be applying far too much. More doesn't mean better protection it just means your bike is covered in sticky stuff. Remember as with most things its all about the prep'. The surfaces to be protected need to be clean so that the ACF50 bonds to the surface of your bike not the layer of dirt that's covering your bike. The best way to ensure that your bike is protected is to book a treatment from www.allyearbiker.co.uk. I should let you know that i am the All year biker operator for Leicestershire and Warwickshire so you may think i'm biased, but there are plenty of forum members who have had their bikes treated by us who are very happy with the results. Have a look at the website, there is plenty of information on how ACF50 works and some hints and tips to help you look after your own bike.

You guys clean your bikes?  That's why I bought a silver one, they don't show the dirt.  It's only going to get dirty again.  Sounds like a a lot of work to me, especially in your climate.
