Just to echo a couple of those inputs ... a ground anchor, big lock etc .. anything that is recognised by an Insurance Company is worth buying ( ask them )... think of it as an investment, likewise, the ROSPA/Advanced Riding ... it may all seem a bit much to start with .. no one is telling you to sit exams and takes tests too early but if you went out a few times to get the idea and then build on that ... especially with the warmer weather coming in it would be a good time to crack on !  Anyway, let us all know what you decide and keep us posted.
The anchor lock is a must but I've decided to use this year to get used to the Beast then later in the year take the advanced so im ready with more amo to take to the insurance.

Andy your suggestions are noted but I'm gonna stick with a 11 plate  ;)

Well guys again thanks for the warm welcome. By June I'll be a proud GTR owner and look foreward to catching up with you all.

My advice is to do IAM or RoSPA as soon as possible and it will help you improve your skills WHILE you get used to the beast. I did IAM 3 yrs ago at the time I upgraded my Hornet 600 to a CBF1000.

Being an IAM member my GTR insurance (through Adelaide) costs £150 fully comp including business use.

Got to agree.

Get RoSPA or IAM ASAP.  Not only will a pass get you cheaper insurance, but the benefits to your riding will enhance enormously.

Don't know how old you are but the old adverts for Charles Atlas body building parody the advantages of Advanced Training over DAS passed riders - "Sick of Having Sand Kicked in Your Face"!!

Your riding willmove to a different level, not only from a safety point, but also from a confidence and enjoyment point too.

Nothing better than watching some crotch rocket rider, flailing arms and legs, pretending to be Rossi, up ahead of you, only to be matched and passed by yourself whilst remaining within the speed limit, purely by having the skill and knowing how to ue the road, your gears and throttle properly!

No better time than 'now' to learn (one tip might save your life the same day) and to ride the new bike to the higher standard from the off.
Four is fun.  Six is sex.

Shes amazing to say the least and I've only done 200 miles so still getting used to her.
I'm getting back out on her today so gonna keep this short coz more time on here means less time on the beast  ;)

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?
