I like tinkering with Photoshop and I'm still learning how to use it but what I do do, I only do on a laptop with a mouse which obviously doesn't give you a lot of precise control. Does anyone on here use it and if so do you use a graphic tablet with a pen or something else?

This is something I put together yesterday, three pictures merged into one. I like it but its not as clean as it should be.

Steve ... "my boy" had/has a tablet with pen as you describe which he used an awful lot before he went off to Uni ... said it was very good and well worth it for all his graphic/artwork/photography stuff .. I shall find out some more detail if you wish .... your picture looks good for a 1st timer !

Didn't turn out right because you used the wrong colour bike! :mfr_lol:
Better to be old and grey than the alternative!

Good pic, but you need to plan more before you paste them together.
Changing the brightness/contrast/gamma on your source images to get them to blend better works well.
It's also worth blending the images together either by blur/sharpen or pixel editing.
You can do a lot with images but a lot of it is time consuming.

Like most artistic compositions planning and preparation are the most important things.
Things like lighting, light source, shadows, colour depth and perspective all need consideration.

I think the pic is awesome. I do however agree with some that the bike is the wrong colour !!!   :mfr_lol:

Surely if you take the picture properly in the first place you shouldn't need photoshop... Right?

Thank you for all the constuctive comments and those that are not quite so constructive.....Rosbif :mfr_lol:

It was just an experiment to see what it finished up like.

It IS a good pic... Where did you take it?

Lonewolf

Which bit? There's three different pics there.  The landscape shot and the bike shot were both taken at different locations in Scotland. The bird shot was taken who knows where.

OK, now I'm looking at it with my PC on a 24" screen rather than on my ipad, which is awful and misbehaving as usual.  NOW I can see what you've been doing - and I like your idea :)

The setting is nice - I was interested to see where it was.

I haven't used photoshop very much, but I have dabbled with The Gimp.  (because I can't afford photoshop and The Gimp is free and also fairly powerful)

I won't pretend to know what I'm on about but... one idea might be make a kind of HDR image for the background and bike images separately, and then play with the light and shadows so that they match.  (you know, using several photos taken with different light settings so you can pick out more (or less) detail as you wish.  Difficult with moving things, but if you take with RAW format, you should be able to do something similar, I think)

The bird shouldn't matter too much cos you can't see it's shadow :)

Nice work
