For some reason I cannot open that link Bryn

If its about using/inserting hyperlinks, then I'll try and explain

To insert a link into your text, first hover the cursor over the link/address in question (towards the top left of your page) and click, the link will turn blue, then right click on the now blue link and choose the "copy" option by clicking on "copy"

With the cursor now 'flashing' within your text (at the point you want to insert the link) right click again and choose the "paste" option and the hyperlink will  appear within your text, and others will be able to click that link to view

Hope that helps

Sorry mate... I may have not explained too well.... If there is a link you want to appear on here... but don't want a  great big address to appear, and decide to change the name of the link that appears ....

I'm trying to rename the link .... does that make sense?  can't be sure which button up above is the one, and what to do... It seems different to another forum I frequent where I have no trouble at all   :whistling:

Enter your URL as text in your comment like so
http://www.gtr1400.co.uk
Yes this does give a clickable link so most of the time you won't need to do anything further.

If you want to change some aspect of it then highlight all of it and click on the URL icon above that looks like this.
This will give you something like this
http://www.gtr1400.co.uk
[*url]http://www.gtr1400.co.uk[/url*] (remove the * at beginning and end for it to work)

You can then edit the whole thing to put a Descriptive Name on the link like so
[*url=http://www.gtr1400.co.uk]GTR1400 Forum[/url*] minus the *s looks like this
GTR1400 Forum

What you are trying to do is
[*url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2644668]Weather[/url*]
which with the *s removed looks like this
Weather
George "Boomer" Garratt
Wickford, UK
http://www.gtr1000.com

You've lost me Bryn.
If you have a web page address that you want to show as a link just make sure that it is fully structured with the http:// or https://
ie. http://www.thisisadufflink.com
My advice is to lay off the more complex stuff.  :mfr_lol:

Your square brackets are all wrong

Ok, look at the example below. Urlbbcode is incorrect and should be url

Here is the [urlbbcode=http://www.bbc.co.uk]BBC site[/urlbbcode]

So change Urlbbcode to url and you get

Here is the BBC site

Nothing I do seems to work, no asterisks appear, don't know what the [/b] is or where that comes in because I'm not seeing that either....

Tell you what.... I'll cope without it

I managed doing this just fine Elsewhere but that brings up a box to enter the url into....

One last try here

HERE

Nope....  :stupid:
