Anyone had condensation in the clocks?

I've got condensation in both the speedo and the rev counter on the inside of the 'glass'

Washed the bike for the first time yesterday, so its getting  in somewhere

This has always beena constant problem with aprilia Tuono's and RSV's..... I wasn't aware that GTR's suffered...

Us Tuono owners know not to soak the clocks too much, but also it seems the condensation goes after a darn good ride... we think it's the Bikes way of saying...'Ok so now i'm clean, time to go for a Hoon'

But persistant 'misting' of the clocks was also a warrenty claim with aprilia, so I can't see why it would be any different for Kawasaki.

Washed it yesterday.... left it out in the sun for about an hour at lunchtime today , and the condensation has gone  ( maybe temporarily ) I'll have to take care not to soak the instruments when washing it, and investigate further if the problem persists  ( its an '09 model so out of warranty )

Bryn, Stay away from clocks, and switches when washing, they dont get dirty anyway. :nono:

Good advice I think

I always get a big soapy sponge on the clocks, cant say I've ever noticed any condensation. I'll have to check them next time I wash the thing.

- yeah , my instruments ( such as they are ) , get a good wash too.

.

O.C.

a gentle rinse of the instrument panel is all that's needed when washing the machine, as Geoff says the instruments don't really get dirty anyway

The condensing problem on GTR instruments is a known 'feature' which has been reported before and TBH also applies to other makes of bikes, any condensation usually dissapears after a short while.
BE KIND...

None in there this morning... so I'll go with the advice to avoid soaking them when its bath time

just wipe the clocks and switch gear over with a rinsed out shammy, avoid soaking the clocks and switch gear there's no need to :nono: remember... water and electrics don't go well together. as daft as it may sound, I use a leaf blower to dry everything off once have washed the bike. don't take the piss.. now! because my wife already dose that, she finds finds it  that I blow dry the bike. anyway what dose she know.. it still dosen't take as long as her blow drying her hair
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Bryn

Don't have a leaf blower.. suppose I could borrow her hair dryer

I've always hose mine down, then soaped with a sponge, then rinsed with the hose again.
DON'T use a jetwash. It will strip paint from the wheels and swingarm linkages and water will get in the clocks and indicators.
