Update on my findings after three lots of rubber hoops have bit the dust. I know that everyone on here raves about the pr3s, but in all honesty I really dont think that they are any better than the two previous sets. As I  have stated before, I think the pr3s are probably the most expensive tyres you can buy that are suitable for the GTR, and as such I would expect them to be head and shoulders above all others, but in my opinion they are not. I will concede that regarding grip in the wet they come out top, but just like my last set (Dunlop pilot road 2s) they have squared off badly , which takes a lot of fun out of riding the bike, as the transition from upright to banking over is very unpleasant . The tyres have done 5600 miles, and I will soon take them off as they are spoiling my pleasure on my trips out. The tyres, (as did the Dunlops) still have plenty of tread depth, but just feel horrible. So I think I will go back to square 1 and fit my recently acquired from Daz on here o e Bridgestones, and yes I know most of you dislike them, but I found them ok, but not as good as others in the wet. But out of the three sets that I have used they squared off or distorted the least, and if  like me your in the twisties all day the fact that they retain their shape longer is a big plus, I have found that sometimes there is more to it than which one gives the better mileage. As you say Winston pr3s love em,   But I haven't been able to love them for long enough. Dont know what to try next.         Any suggestions?

The 16 came with Metzeler Roadtec Z8's as OEM

Brilliant tyre which, had it not been for the praise laid on the PR3 I would have got again.

Very neutral tyre, great in the wet too.

I would certainly place them on a par with the PR3's

I am still very happy with the Pirellis.
I've now done 5.5K on the rear and even though a lot of that was on the motorway I can't say they've squared off much at all.
Whatever Winston says about them, mine say Made in Germany on the side and are great.
Maybe he bought a cheaper set that was made in China?  :mfr_lol:
I don't ride much in the rain but when I got caught in a thunderstorm while negotiating the Galibier pass and the limestone made the surface
look like it was covered with soapy water they were still confidence inspiring. Rear is good for at least another 1 -2K and I'm going to buy an Angel ST again.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Th first set of ST's were excellent.  It was the lack of consistency that caused me the issue.  They are very good and have good longevity.  Second set weren't as good and lacked 'feel'.  Would still use them though.

My PR3s have now done about 1700 miles since I had them fitted last month, and they are great...a big thumbs up from me [/b]

My PR3s are no more, good in the wet, good in the dry, but have done what all bike tyres seem to do, ie squared off and deformed really badly. So they had to go as they made the bike feel awful. I have fitted some oe Bridgestones, I know lots of you hate them but I think they are ok, slightly iffy in the wet but generally not bad. I dont think I will be fitting the PR3s again as I think they are expensive without being any better than other manufacturers offerings. All in all not impressed at all.

Oh how I had forgotten what a new set of tyres feels like  !!! ... transforms everything ... when you tip into the corner it goes without any effort .. and when you pull out the other side it comes with you .. oh if only I could afford to change my tyres every few months !!  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Just to give my opinion on the PR3's.
Like others here my GTR came with BT021's which lasted for 3000 mls before the front went a funny shape so I changed them for the PR3's.
Now done 5100 on them and the rear looks fine. Not squared off and the front still has the same profile as when I bought it.
I recon the rear will do another 1000 miles on the current route I ride so will be happy with the milage.
Never had a problem with grip in the wet and in the dry probly never got anywhere near the limits of the tyre.
I'll definately have the same again.

The first set of PR3's I had on my other GTR reached 8-9 k and still looked and performed well.
