Disgusted too ..... when he has been identified ... and he will be grassed up by someone .... like the old lady putting the cat in a wheely bin last year ... he needs to be stalked and "spoken to" in a dark ally ... and when he comes out of hospital unable to ride a bike ever again because he has no fingers you go round and do his knees with a club hammer, whilst spraying petrol over his feet letting it soak right into his socks  then lighting it, thus ensuring the flames leave only stumps that will never heal properly and will always be painful ..... then ................
I do dislike people who are cruel to animals.

You all know my feelings on people who are cruel to animals.... lets just say if i were to catch him.. it would take days for him to pop his clogs..  :censored: :censored:
She is like the Bumblebee, she should not fly....... and yet she does!

Now imagine a scenario where a bloke is riding his bike off-road. He accidentally hits a large dog but he manages to stay on the bike. He's shocked and continues riding while he tries to understand what happened and to check the bike is OK then stops to assess the situation. He receives a load of abuse from the dog owner, doesn't want any trouble and knows he shouldn't be there anyway so rides off.

I'm not saying that's what happened but it's an alternative viewpoint and seems more plausible than a bloke on a bike deliberately riding at a large dog with no idea whether he's going to stay on the bike or crash (mind you, I'm often surprised by what people do). We currently only have one side of the story reported and probably exaggerated by a journalist. How on earth does a dog on a leash get thrown 25'?

I agree it does look a little far fetched.

Point taken Kevin, however if you, or I, were hit at 60mph by a 150Kg bike then we too would be thrown 25 feet, believe me, I saw a pal ( a big lad)  hit in the chest by a running deer in woodland at much less speed, and he was absolutely flattened.

Here's the latest.  Id still get the bast*rd that was riding it and pull him limb from limb.....slowly

What I find a lot more shocking is what a copper of all people threatens to do to the rider without proof of his guilt.  :nono:

Come on - Nobody would try to run over a big Alsatian deliberately doing 60mph off-road on a Super Moto.  :ohplease:
He must have been an excellent rider not to fall off, though.  :whistling:
More likely the owner let his dog off the leash and it charged the bike.
And now he doesn't want to admit that he let his dog run wild and is telling this horror story.
Dogs are well known to charge bikes while bikers trying to kill dogs with their bikes are so far unheard of.
And when the dog's owner came running at the perplexed biker yelling abuse and death threats the guy took off.
Reading the reactions here I would also take off if I ran over a dog instead risking to be tortured and torn to pieces by an angry mob.

I actually experienced something similar with my dog in New Zealand.
I was riding a bicycle and she was running next to me without a leash.
She was a good dog and very obedient and had never before strayed from my side.
When a guy on a bike turned onto the road the stupid dog suddenly charged straight at his front wheel and he knocked her over.
Luckily he didn't go very fast and didn't fall off and there was no damage to his bike.
The dog bled a bit and had a sore head for a couple of days and I thought she deserved it.  :whistling:

The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Was he being held on a leash by someone? And if he was, was that someone uninjured despite the jerk that must have occurred?

:mfr_lol:  Kevin your old enough to know better, but don't  :mfr_lol:

When I walk my dog I hold the leash lightly it would be easy to have it pulled from that kind of light grip, trained dogs don't need to be dragged around you see, unless you have a macho Staffy or simular

Predictable response Mecki

So you reckon I should have slowly ripped his limbs off because he deliberately rode his bike too close to my beautiful dog and hurt her?  :ohplease:

If I would walk my dog on the Heath (or anywhere else for that matter) and a bike sped towards me I would step to the side of the track, tell the dog to heel, hold it by the collar and wait until the bike has passed.
And not because I would expect the biker to deliberately try to kill my dog.
I would do that because I wouldn't trust even the best trained dog not to charge a passing noisy bike.

I lost more than one dog in my lifetime and it hurt every time, so I can feel with the guy, but the story is so full of inconsistencies that I just can't believe it was a deliberate act of cruelty and not just an accident.
And that it was written by a reporter from the Daily Mail makes it even less believable.

How do you know it's a lie?
Because I read it in the Daily Mail!

OK the kid most likely was a twat showing off, probably even without baffle (of whom does that remind me?) and took off after the collision.
But if it wasn't his fault and since he was hooning illegally on MOD land and couldn't do anything for the dead dog anyway that is understandable.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Ahh the usual kneejerk reaction to a one sided story.
Kill and maim the bad person,... well, I was told he was bad,.... what do you mean the other person lied about them being bad,...... errr,..... guess I f**ked up an innocent person then.  Oh well, that's yer luck.

I have to say I am with Mecki on this.
GET THE FACTS and then make your mind up.
What you see in the papers or on the internet is NOT the facts.
That is why we have courts and Vigilantism is ILLEGAL!

Chances are the kid on the MX bike lost control (easy to do with a quarter turn throttle), somehow didn't come off the bike (a bloody miracle) and decided to scarper rather than face the music. Either that or else the dog owner decided to take unilateral "vigilante" action to get the MX rider off "his" land and sicced the dog on him.
I have seen people set their dogs on people just because they didn't like them hanging out on a street corner.
If you use your dog as a weapon then I think YOU should be charged with assault as if you had used a baseball bat instead.
The same applies if you use your motorcycle/car as a weapon.

I once kicked some teeth out of a dogs mouth.
The damned thing kept trying to have me off my bike whenever I rode past, on a public road.
Sooner or later it was going to succeed and I had no desire to experience that.
I had words with the owner and he told me to "f**k off".
The next time the dog tried it on I kicked out rather than swerve.
The dog never did it again having decided that losing teeth was painful and when the owner tried to sue me, the courts dismissed it because his dog was not under control and WAS endangering road users.

I still feel guilty about it. I have no desire to hurt anything.
It wasn't a bad dog, only a bad owner.

There are always two sides to every story and we all know the gutter press likes a headline punching, heart rendering story to help sell papers but at the end of the day the poor dog has been killed.
Whether that was by negligence of the owner or negligence of the bike rider the dog still died.
The fact is that the bike rider was clearly aware that he had struck the dog and yet chose not to stop.
The Police will not 'waste' much time on this before filing it because it's not really important to them and there would probably, sadly, not be a  prosecution at the end of it in any case.  Not in the public interest and all that rubbish.

On a personal level if anyone ever deliberately injured any of my dogs, i.e. bonfire night, throwing a firework at them, etc, I'd kick the  :censored: out of them regardless of the consequences for me.  :ninja:

O.C.

Correct Steve  :agree: totally, there are always two sides to a story, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. For my part I merely posted a link without any judgement of detail.....my response to the potential accuracy of the article being a natural one from an animal lover.

The original posting wasn't designed to provide a base for any sort of attack of members on here or the press, (BTW I don't ever buy any daily papers) neither was it to provide a platform for barrack room rantings, hence the reason for posting in General Discussion section.

Out of interest it would now appear that the rider concerned was on a "Stolen Machine"    there's a surprise then  :mfr_lol:
