My ride was v progressive ! And if it had locked up mid flight ... Amen.
Kawazaki said it was a known issue ...that was two years ago... Now have the 2011 version gtr 1400
And they are doing a recall.....  Letter recieved 10/08/12'Has anyone been killed by this fault????

It is the subject of a manufacturer recall which takes around 20 mins to complete and is F.O.C

Could someone please tell me what this all about. We are not hearing anything about recalls down here ( which is not surprising anyway) but perhaps I could check my bike out and perhaps inform my dealer about it.

I'm having mine done this afternoon, I'll do you some before and after pics.

Deon

Thanks a lot deb3km,
Do not think mine is listed above. Also tried various sites on google to ID my bike but VIN is not recognised.

I contacted Kawasaki UK and they cinfirmed that my bike is part of the recall but I haven't received a letter.
Maybe I am further down the list than others.

Right had mine done this afternoon at Colin Appleyards in Keighley. They even allowed me to watch and it does only take 15-20 minutes.

The last photo shows the rdundant parts, if your bike still has these parts you MAY need to contact Kawasaki. The fourth photo shows the shiny new part which apparantly is the fix.
The mechanic had done four GTR's today so by the time he got to mine he just sailed thriugh the work. There was a silver 07 plate one in the workshop when I arrived but while mine was getting fixed the owner returned and left, was that anyone on here?

steve on the hole.. the bike is looking quite clean. did you forget to clean the wheels
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Lonewolf

I haven't cleaned it for a week or two. Been too busy, I would have cleaned it before a trip to Scotland which I know is looming for some but I cant go so whats the point.

steve.. look at it this way! your "indispensable" which most likley means we are "expendable" anyway that's no excuse for having a dirty bike  but don't despair, we will arange another ride out either before the trip or just after
