Seems like a lot of time and effort to make something that is already available for not much more than than you could make it yourself. Just buy a telferizer.  www.telferizer.com. I had a custom one made so that i could use a car satnav before i  bought my Garmin. worked really well. Maybe worth an e-mail.

Looks like a lot of hard work.
Pick up phone with Credit Card in other hand, dial and order. Wait two days and then unwrap.

viper

why would you go to the trouble of building a lovely website, but with no prices, people assume its expensive and cant be bothered to email the owners, bad marketing

It wasn't hard work and I like it..
Why would I want to email for a price when I dont need one?

Each to their own I say.  :whistling:

viper

well done debs, you made your own

O.C.

Its no big deal some prefer to make their own accessries where possible, it provides that special kind of satisfaction.

Others will purchase a ready made component

One or two get lucky and send back the original item to Kawasaki because it was faulty, get a refund, and a brand new f.o.c item.

LIKE I DID  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

As Debs said  "each to their own"   :agree:

- done !  GBP2 (the 12 mm allen key) + GBP0.50 (17mm ball bearing) + GBP2 (for the shop to cut the allen key and weld on the ball bearing) = GBP5.50

- took the big girl for a long ride today and discovered a couple of things :

- the ciggy port for the gps's power lead will not hold the plug securely , esp at high speeds. Probably needs to be permanently wired in.

- with a full face helmet , the stem nut/ base of risers position for the gps requires the rider to dip his head and totally take his eyes off the road to read the gps. Can be hairy. Its much better with an open face though.

- having a gps can be really godsent for unfamiliar roads, esp about towns , etc.

- am using a car gps unit (garmin nuvi) and there are no issues with using gloves with the screen, nor with screen visibility even with very bright sunlight. Just that with a full face + balaclave + earplugs = cannot hear the prompts. Not sure what would happen if it rained ....

.

- the need to dip the helmet to read the gps : any way around this ?

- and rain with a car gps , what will happen ?

thanks

Surely this is down to adjustment....I use a C3 helmet which as you know is a flip front and my GPS is perfectly visible to me by simply lowering my eyes for a spilt second, which is rare as the audible information is usually as much as I need.

I'm a bit confused by your post with regard to the stem nut/base of risers. its probably me that hasn't understood just what you mean, maybe a picture would help if you have one.

With regard to the Aux' socket on the bikes dash, I used this as a power source for two years on my first GTR and had no problem with it, sometimes the actual plug on your device can be a bit loose fitting in the socket and that would cause it to vibrate out...A small tip is to wrap the plug with an elastic band (you will find a red one in the flower bed next to your driveway)  :mfr_lol: make several wraps around the plug and then plug it in, it will help secure the plug into the socket and act as a rain shield, alternatively hard wire the device into the accessory cables on the bike, which are located front left on the bike, seen here on mine with extension cables fitted..... this will give a more permanent fixture, and free up the aux socket for a fag lighter  :mfr_lol:

- basically its the position as per my picture above , with the GPS unit mounted (ie , at the base of the risers near the stem nut).

- as i understand Schubert helmets , their apertures are very large. I am using an Arai SK6/GP6 (basically a karters/car racing helmet) where the aperture is very small.

- maybe will experiment with the OGK which i have which has a huge aperture.

- thanks

Gotcha. I'm not familiar with that particular helmet, but have just had a quick look and yes its a cart helmet with narrow aperture.

Any small adjustment of the device can make a big difference to the viewability of the screen
