- could someone help with the size of the big allen key needed for this stem cover ? Am thinking it may be either 11 or 12 mm.

- am embarking on a DIY gps holder and will update on the progress here , if it will help someone else thinking of doing the same.

thanks.

I tried to measure mine but can't get the vernier into it cos the sat nav is in the way...I'm pretty sure its 11mm

Hope that helps

Just a thought, if you plan to remove the stem head bolt it will need to be correctly re-torqued and that is  108nm or 78.7 ft.lb

- yo, thanks for that.

- did try the vernier trick too but everything was in the way !!

- i don't actually intend to do away with the stem cover , but rather insert an allen key into it and weld a small plate onto the end of the allen key and mount the gps holder there.

Why not just get the kawasaki sat nav mount.  Great bit of kit and made for the job.  Will look better than a home made lash job as well

I have done my Ram Mount and it cost less than £20.

You will need:-

1 x Ram Ball
1 x M10 Washer
2 x M10 Long Nuts
1 x 100mm M10 Thread Bar
Waterproof Electrician tape. Its a rubber tape thats only sticks to itself.

Wrap some tape round a long nut. Just enough to make it hard to push in the Yoke Screw. Using the tread bar put it through the long nut and then using the other nut tighten it to pull the first nut & tape tightly in to the hole..

Undo the thread bar and take it out

Re torque the Yoke Screw back in to place.. The thread nut will then be visible inside.

Using lock stud glue, put the Ram Ball in to one end of the other long nut and thread bar in other end.. Once dry screw in to hole only finger tight..

Job Done
