We are hoping to do a little touring next week, firstly down to Wisbech to see my sister, then up to Northumberland.

Thinking about using a tank bag, but have never used one before, so if you guys could help me out and letting me know which to buy and  would i need a tank cover for the bag to fit and also to protect my paintwork on the tank, or if you are local would it be possible to borrow for the week, from Saturday 21st July to Saturday 28th July.

I have a Bagster Tank Bag & Tank Cover..

The best on the market IMO

Glen, Baglux stuff is expensive, !!!! But it is top stuff, a harness is about 100 sqid, and a bag around about the same. Once you have a bag they will fit any Baglux harness. If you try to find a second hand harness, I have a bag that you could have for 20 sqid. I'm sure someone on here, or e-bay will have a harness.  Cheers Geoff.
What would you rather be   or a wasp?

other options are to use the kawasaki tank ring method .

Ive got an Oxford first time tank bag, it hooks onto the lugs at the top of the tank and has a velcro pad and strap system that goes under the front of your seat, just velcro rips to get tank filler access. cheap soloution.

Ive seen a few baglux systems on the gtr that were a terrible fit, plus the design of this tank looks a bit wierd, IMO

I had the Baglux/Bagster tank cover on mine and it was never a great fit if I'm honest. I'd go with the SW Motech style bag which attaches to a ring on the fuel cap. I've sort of bought one from a previous GTR owner, now BMW owner but I think he's ashamed to meet up with me so I can collect it.  :mfr_lol:

O.C.

Bags connection for me which gives me the choice of alternating between a smaler day bag and the larger XL which is great for touring

It clips to a horseshoe shaped ring mounted around the filler cap so doesn't damage the paintwork..its also easy to remove for fueling up

Ive always used bagster  got one on the gtr and the zx6r. but use the tweety size bag for the zx6r and the minear bag for the gtr, both my bagster covers are a perfect fit. also protects your tank from scratchers  but they take time to mold to the tank, the key is to let the cover get to room temp before you fit. it will need readjusting a few times over a few weeks.
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff
