I have a new Fender extender and want to fit it with the mudguard removed, i take it that its a simple matter of undoing the allen bolts on the front and the two behind the forks and it slips off?

There's two bolts on the side that need to be removed.
The clips need to be removed to free the pipes. Do this by getting your hand to the rear of the clip and squeezing together before pushing out

- just a comment on this since I just fitted mine : there is no need to remove the front mudguard.

Don't trust the sticky pads

I ended up paying twice for mine

I learned that many years ago when one fell off my first GTR1000.
Now always fit mine with the sticky pads and then add add 3 small self tapping screws.
5 years, 50k miles and it's still on there.

I used needle nosed pliers on my clips, it saved chipping my nail varnish.
And yes, use small selftappers or the small plastic clips to make sure it does not come off.

Yes three or four small screws will prevent it dropping off and nearly getting run over, trust me it is possible!  :mfr_lol:

I stuck mine on with clear sealant and put some bags of rice to weight it down.. left it over night and hey presto, perfect job.  :mfr_lol:.  Looks a lot better than using screws.. Ive done over 10k miles and its still there

As Kwikasfuki says.. but be carefull with the plastic clips that hold the brake pipes on to the mudgaurd, they are very easily broke. get your fingers behind the mudgaurd and squeeze the lugs together, they then simply pop out
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

- hell yeah ! Put mine on with clear silicone sealant too.

mines on with a high grade pro silicone, roughed up the surfaces to get better purchase first, even with my dramatic warping of the extender from heat , it has not budged. dont like putting screw holes in my fender

carvern

Clear silicone, same stuff you use round the bath sticks like s*** to blanket and you don't need to take the fender off.
