The CBR1300 has served me well over the last 4 years but almost daily commutes throughout the year and the last 2 coldest winters since T Rex left us have done me in.
A new,11 plated, Green GTR awaits my collection on the 3rd March. The dealer loved the Honda ( immaculate ) and its FSH so gave me £2200 part ex,( not bad as it had 31000 miles on it ) a matching Kawasaki top box and I bought the Skidmarks hugger... the rest was cash.
I have stated on previous threads how much I liked the Blue .... but not availiable in 2011, and I didn't like the green .... until you see it in the flesh and then .... OOOOOoo eerrrr it's really quite nice.
So there you have it ... after months of waiting ( Lady Rusty had to be assured there was enough money in the pot for a new kitchen ) the day is almost upon me.
I thank you.

Well, congratulations are in order me thinks, I never saw that coming ;)

Anxious times , waiting for a new bike.  ;D

Will you be using it for the daily commute to work or is it just for special occasions?

Rusty

Thank you Mr Wolf !  The near daily commute will have to continue, but i do allow the train to take the strain a bit more these days and there are of course a few trips planned for this year .. Bets-y-Coed for one and there is a hoon down to South of france planned and booked for June, and maybe a weekend to Dorset area with the same bunch so it is going to get some decent use ... with plenty of washing and waxing at the end !

NB .. as above really. I was initially going for an ex demo but the dealer is not big enough to have several bikes out at once .. ie .. a demo with a few miles on it, sell it put another out etc .. he tends to keep his for a while so he ALWAYS has a demo bike and then sells from that .. I had a CBR1300 from new, a touch under 4 years old with 31000 hot miles on it .. a lot of commuting A / M Roads .. but I kept it pristine which reflected when the dealer mechanic bought it back from a test ride, chucked the keys at the salesman and said " That's a credit to you sir " ! FSH with all the receipts, scottoiler and Givi topbox ... gave me £2200 and a new colour coded 42 L top box .. and I paid for the Skid Marx hugger ( £80 ) I then parted with £11000 ... so brand new 11 plated, in green with everything I wanted ... trouble is I am back to work Tuesday morning so can't get to the dealer till Thursday ..... torture !!

Rusty

Boys and Girls ... what can I say ?  Picked up the Gtr about an hour ago and I just love it... what a piece of kit !! You all know what I have been missing these last few months ... why doesn't everyone have a GTR ?? Hope to get some miles on it over the next few days and get some polish on it too, while the sun shines ! I hope to share it all with you ,as Mr Wolf does, with pictures and commentary of what the south of England is like with a GTR1400. WAAHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO ....... !

Lonewolf

I cant believe you picked up the GTR an hour ago and you are at home already!!
Where's your sense of adventure. You could have a quick blast on it upto Wales and check out the camp site.  ;D And then drop it straight back to the dealers on your way home for its first service.  :)

And yes we do want to see lots of pics and write ups.

Enjoy Lord Rusty you should be out in this spring sunshine banging up the miles for the first service.  ;D

Dare I ask how you're breaking in the engine?

Thank you boys ! I am off to work in a minute .. the sun is shining ! 200 miles on the clock ... had to wash and wax it this morning ! NB .. no more than 4000 rpm for the first 5/600 miles .. 80 ish and plenty of changing roads .. no sitting on motorways ... gear changes and braking .. simply making everything work for the first time. Lovely stuff.
Should be in for 1st service next week. Keep you updated.
Glad to hear the camping weekend/bookings is going well.

Lord Rusty, collected my bike late January, dark metallic green, but still no word on top box (colour-coded) arriving. Mr. Kwak said none in country yet!
Is yours the real thing ?

Havn't seen it in the flesh yet ! When it goes back in a short while for the first service I shall ask if he 1. Has any  2. If he has any spare.  !!  You may wish to E mail them or take a look at their web site ... www.alfsmotorcycles.co.uk .. I didn't think there was a problem as he told me it was the colour coded lid cover they were waiting on. When I find out i shall let you know !
